Creative Labs T100 Overview

Go big on sound and small on space with the T100 Compact Desktop Speakers for Computers and Laptops from Creative Labs. This 2.0-channel speaker system features a single 2.75" full-range driver in each speaker and BasXPort venting for an accurate listening experience. A digital amplifier provides power to each speaker, resulting in a 40W RMS or 80W peak output. Furthermore, the compact design allows for easy integration with your current setup, whether you're using a laptop or desktop. Connect wirelessly thanks to Bluetooth 5.0 or take advantage of easy plug-and-play connectivity via wired 3.5mm aux and optical inputs.

Featuring a 50 Hz to 20 kHz frequency range, this speaker system has a sensitivity of more than 72 dB. A USB port can be used to play audio files directly from a USB flash drive—WAV, FLAC, and MP3 files supported on drives up to 32GB formatted in FAT32. Adjust volume, source input, Bluetooth pairing, or power via the on-speaker controls. An included remote control can also be used to control the speakers remotely. This speaker system utilizes an AC power adapter and is compatible with Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android, via the Bluetooth or a 3.5mm aux connection. It is also compatible with TVs and other devices supporting a 3.5mm aux, the A2DP Bluetooth profile, or optical inputs.

A step up for budget PC audio

The T100 speakers come with a superior build quality to other speakers in the same price range. The housing is screened by a sturdy metal mesh, and each speaker sits firmly on four rubber feet. They don't look or feel cheap, and the cables are well insulated so there's none of the static interference or hissing that low-quality speakers emit when the source isn't turned on. The buttons on the main speaker are an on/off switch and a volume control, but for anything else you will need two AA batteries to operate the included remote control, which allows you to switch between 3.5mm and USB inputs or pair with your audio source via bluetooth. The remote also offers four equalizer profiles to choose from, but none of them particularly appeal to me. I prefer using the more robust EQ settings I can access through my PC. Finally there are buttons for increasing or decreasing bass and treble. As for the audio quality, there's nothing here that will impress an audiophile, and it doesn't compare to my 20-year-old Harmon Kardons, which unfortunately died. These are more ideal for YouTube videos and podcasts than music. However, there's decent detail and a pretty flat signature. I was pleasantly surprised to hear a slight bass extension. However, the highs are pretty hot and I was frantically pulling up my computer's EQ to get rid of the sizzle. The preset options on the remote did not help. Once that was under control by setting the output to Treble Reducer I have enjoyed my speakers ever since. They're good enough, and I'm grateful to hear in stereo again for under a hundred dollars.

Confusing settings, delayed sound

It took me a while to figure out how to connect the bluetooth. The remote doesn't have a strong connection either. I'm a video editor so the slight delay in sound was a real issue for me. Otherwise, good quality sound for the price.

Why does it say it plays "WAV, FLAC, and MP3" - what about aiff or other sound files. If Apple Music plays speakers will play?

Can this speaker be used on 220 volt power as well?

This supports 100 to 240 VAC, 50 / 60 Hz at 1.5 A for international usage so long as you have the proper adapter for your region.
