I would recommend going with one that is a bit thicker to spread the weight out a bit more, but technically yes this strap would work with the Canon 5D Mark III.

I cannot say! It seems metal to me, but it could be a very strong kind of plastic (and I mean STRONG). Im using this strap often, and as any Domke stuff; im very satisfied whit it!! I must say that is a heavy duty strap...Good luck!

Hello, Throw away the tiny steel rings, they will scratch the paint off your camera, the small end of your strap simply fits your camera. The tiny rings were used in very old cameras that had a small ring holder on camera.
