I would recommend going with one that is a bit thicker to spread the weight out a bit more, but technically yes this strap would work with the Canon 5D Mark III.

Do not buy this strap. The Domke straps used to be great about 30 years ago. Sadly, The strap weaving is thin, and the stitching on the end which connects to the camera can be easily ripped open. If you have a camera store where you live- go there - and test out the straps especially for a camera with a bit of weight like the Rolleicord.

I cannot say! It seems metal to me, but it could be a very strong kind of plastic (and I mean STRONG). Im using this strap often, and as any Domke stuff; im very satisfied whit it!! I must say that is a heavy duty strap...Good luck!

Yes, I used this strap to connect directly to the lugs(if that's the word) on my Fujifilm X100S.The strap comes with small leather flaps that protect the camera from scratches. This is a good product.
