Sky-Watcher S20220 Overview

The Sky-Watcher Rotator Adapter allows you to rotate the orientation of your astrophotography or imaging system a full 360° without having to unmount and reposition it—saving you time and aggravation when framing or changing your shot.

This adapter is specifically designed for their Evostar 80ED, 100ED, 120ED and 150ED (but not the 150DX), and works with the Evostar 0.85x Focal Reducer/Flattener. Mounting threads provide a solid and secure connection that keeps everything optically aligned and won't allow light to bleed in from the sides. Integrated 2" filter threads allow you to install colored filters for monochrome imaging systems, plus polarizing, light pollution, nebula, or neutral density filters to further enhance your images.

Sky-Watcher S20220 Reviews

Poor quality and poor information

The rotator isn't great to start with, the rotation feels like grinding rough metal, the threads get caught and you start threading it further on or off when you're rotating it so if you're not paying attention you could have the whole attached assembly fall off. Then there's B&H which I thought has a great return policy but they charge $10 shipping on a 4oz 2in piece that I have to return because the website has incomplete information on it, on top of the piece being low quality. Will give me pause before I buy products again.

It works, but could use improvement

I bought this rotator for my Skywatcher ED80 so that I could easily change the angle of rotation for my camera without changing the focus step for my auto focuser. What I like about it is that as a basic rotator it does work and I was able to change the angle of rotation with minimal impact to my N.I.N.A. advanced sequences. However, what I did not like was the amount of play when I would loosen the screws that hold the rotation angle. It can easily allow the focus to change if you don't push against the camera before you retighten the screws (allowing you to possibly change the alignment). The other thing I don't like is there are no tick marks to tell how many degrees of rotation you have moved. My Redcat 51 has a much better mechanism built into (I didn't have to buy a rotator), so I guess I'm a bit spoiled by that OTA.
