Zacuto Z-Finder Recoil Pro for Sony FX6 Overview

The Zacuto Sony FX6 Z-Finder Recoil Pro is designed to outfit your FX6 camera for comfortable handheld shooting using the Z-Finder eyepiece. This allows you to set the balance point of your rig directly over your shoulder and shoot film- or ENG-style with your camera. The components work together providing support, control, adjustable balance, and accessory mounting that doesn't stress your camera's body. The Recoil Pro setup allows you to quickly rebalance for different lenses or accessories to help prevent fatigue while creating smooth handheld shots.

The included Z-Finder slides onto the Sony LCD and provides 2.5x magnification of the LCD for a larger, clearer image with diopter adjustment. The included Axis Micro and Fluid Rosette Joint allow you to adjust the angle of the Z-Finder. The VCT Pro is a padded shoulder support that mounts onto a VCT plate for quick tripod mounting and unmounting. It features a forward/back adjustable camera mounting plate, 15mm LWS rod clamps, rods, and an ARRI rosette. The included rosette trigger grip attaches to the rosette on the VCT Pro, and it allows you to move the Sony handgrip that came with your camera forward and off the camera, for better balance, while maintaining the electronic control over your camera with the included 13.5" long LANC cable. The top plate and handle mount allow you to mount additional accessories on your camera via 1/4"-20, 3/8"-16, and ARRI-style accessory mounting holes, or optional 15mm rods.

Zacuto VCT Pro Baseplate

With built-in ergonomic shoulder pad, 10" sliding track, extra space for accessories in front, VCT14-compatible V-wedge, red buttons and levers all around, and much more, this is the stylish VCT Pro Baseplate from Zacuto. Use it with all types of cameras, from DSLRs to larger models, like the Alexa.

A section of the baseplate extends out beyond the 15mm LWS rod adapter in front. With the rod adapter thus set back, you have additional space to mount accessories under the camera lens, allowing you to position the camera further back on the plate, keeping the balance point of your rig directly over your shoulder. (The rod adapter is vertically adjustable 1", and has to be in a raised position to allow for accessories to be mounted in the additional space. Also, a 1.8" riser for the rod adapter is optionally available for RED cameras by special order from Zacuto.) Also, on the bottom of the section that protrudes out is where the V-wedge is. There is also a 15mm LWS rod adapter on the rear.

The VCT Pro Baseplate features a 10" sliding track, providing the space to optimally adjust balance after every lens change. Moreover, the included red camera plate can be loosened by a spring-loaded lever instead of a screw, so you can make adjustments quickly and easily. To fully release and remove the plate (and camera), just press a red button on the side of the baseplate and slide the plate out. The rod ports also have spring-loaded levers.

An ARRI M6 rosette is available on the front for attaching accessories and grips, and there are also three 1/4"-20 threaded holes on the side providing additional mounting options. 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 tripod mount holes are available on the bottom to use instead of the V-wedge. The shoulder pad runs pretty much along the entire length as well as width of the baseplate, and is made of gel polymer. Two 6.5" 15mm rods are included. One 1/4"-20 and one 3/8"-16 screw are supplied for the camera plate. The VCT Pro Baseplate is made in the USA.

Zacuto Trigger Grip for Sony FS5 & FX6

The Trigger Grip for Sony FS5 & FX6 from Zacuto is an adjustable relocator for the camera grip of the Sony FS5 or FX6 camera. It's designed to attach to camera supports offering an ARRI-standard rosette, including the Zacuto VCT Pro baseplate. The entire unit can be rotated a full 360° at the quick press of a lever with no need to unscrew a knob or lever as with standard handgrips, and it can also be adjusted in length by loosening another lever.

Zacuto Sony FX6 Z-Finder

The Z-Finder for Sony FX6 from Zacuto is an optical viewfinder that uses 2.5x magnification to turn the camera's LCD monitor into a clear, easy-to-focus viewfinder. Designed specifically for use with the Sony FX6 LCD screen, the Z-Finder features a flip-up design and a diopter wheel for focusing the finder to suit the individual user's eyesight. It includes two extender frames for farsighted use and can be used with separately available drop-in diopters for further correction. This finder's large, lightproof eyecup also increases the stability of handheld footage by adding a point of contact between the camera and the user's eye.

A built-in aluminum sun mask on the Z-Finder protects the LCD screen from sunlight. The included Z-FRM-FX6 mounting bracket attaches to the Sony 15mm rod mount. The viewfinder has an Anti-Fog disc installed to keep the view clear in humid or cold conditions, and it also includes an additional disc.

Note:
WARNING: The Z-Finder is a magnifier and as such will magnify the sun, which can damage the LCD screen if the sun is allowed to shine directly through the Z-Finder lens. Use the enclosed lens cap to block light from entering your Z-Finder when not in use.

Zacuto Z-Finder Recoil Pro for Sony FX6 Reviews

Comfortable

Used this shooting baseline for the past 6 months and the padding is comfortable. The handle collapses back which allows for a smaller profile for more doc type use with the FX6.

Where do I begin? This thing makes a very nice ergonomically made camera, totally off kilter and weird. There are so many things wrong - from the grip extension cable that they give you with NO RIGHT ANGLES. So - the grip extension cord sticks out a good 2 inches to the right of your camera rig. Who thought this was a good idea? The entire Zfinder is attached to the most insecure rosette - all its gonna take is one on set bump and the whole Zfinder will break right off of Sony's plastic arm. In my kit, was completely missing the piece which attaches the arm to the rails, so I got boned there. The top plate design completely covers the S on the SONY, which doesn't hurt how you film but also was a very very bad design flaw to do that. NO MATTER WHAT I do to this rig, there is play and movement. No matter how hard i tighten things down, take apart, rebuild. I am SO BUMMED. Beyond spending $1650 on it, I just wanted it to work. I wish I could upload a video to show you how this thing is so not solid.

Yes, the side handle you see in the image provided with the Zacuto Sony FX6 Z-Finder Recoil Pro is included with the Sony FX6 Full-Frame Cinema Camera (Body Only). Although it is not shown in the image, a 13.5" LANC cable is included with the rig to connect the side handle to the camera.
