Roomy and comfortable pack

The pack’s construction seems solid, with high quality materials. The camera area is easy to configure thanks to the various size pads. I have it holding a Canon R6 MkII body with 24-240mm zoom attached and 16mm prime, 85mm prime and 100-500 mm zoom in separate slots. That leaves a couple of additional small slots for accessories. I am using built in pouches for a spare battery and body cap/lens cap storage. The upper compartment has plenty of room for jackets, first aid kit, hat, etc it makes the pack very tall but it is well balanced and does not feel tall on the back. Once on the back the loaded pack is comfortable and feels lighter than when picking it up. The loaded pack adjusters help the pack’s balance quite a bit. They do get in the way when opening the main compartment but with practice opening the compartment is not bad. The side opening for easy camera access is well sized and works quite well. All in all I am pleased with the pack and look forward to continuing use.

Will this bag fit a 200-600 lens? Along with an a1 body with 24-70 attached? And a 14" MBP?
Asked by: Christine
Yes, the compagnon Element Camera Backpack can fit a Sony FE 200-600mm f/5.6-6.3 G OSS Lens, a Sony a1 Mirrorless Camera with a Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM Lens attached, and a Apple 14" MacBook Pro in the laptop sleeve. Keep in mind, that due to the size on the 200-600mm lens, that you might not be able to align the a1 and 24-70mm lens attached with the side access zipper.

Is it possible to carry a gimbal like the DJI RSC2 in this bag? Along with the camera and lenses?
Asked by: John
Even at its smallest, the RSC2 does consume quite a bit of space, especially if you plan on keeping it well protected. The Compagnon Element backpack will fit the RSC2 with minimal camera gear, and it will depend on the size of your camera and lenses.

I read in the comments that the waist strap is NOT removable. B&H says it is removable - which is it?
Asked by: REGINALD
The compagnon Element Camera Backpack (Volcano Black, 30L) waist strap is removable. Here are the instructions: How do I take the ShiftPro hip belt off from the backpack? You will find fastening straps on the left and right outer fins of the hip belt. You can unthread these. Then reach with your hand into the passage between the back system and the hip belt itself. There is a Velcro area on the inside. You can loosen this with your fingers. The ShiftPro hip belt can then simply be pulled out to either side.

How durable are the shoulder straps and seams? I've been disappointed with the poor quality of some expensive big name packs.
Asked by: David
Compagnon is a mixed bag. They are absolutely unhelpful when issues arise on their bags. I have had zipper pulls that broke. The way they're made, there's no way to put the cordage back inside. Instead you'll have to replace it with an alternative pull or some paracord that, if you're lucky, will have handy. If you try to buy their's, they'll charge an exorbitant amount for international freight when regular airmail is enough. Thumbs down.

Are there loops/straps on the bottom for attaching a tripod or similar item?
Asked by: Tim
compagnon Element Backpack (Desert Brown, 20L) accepts the tripod on the side of the bag. Same place where you could place a large water bottle. The bottom of the case does not have straps.
