Pretty nice base plate stand. I like that it includes a bag for the poles and base plates. The stand arrived with some minor damage and Chauvet was quick to get me parts sent over.

Heavy stand, solid build. Did some research and I believe it holds the most weight of any base plate speaker stand I found. Held up 2 QSC k12s for an event recently, mounted a Hex Wash on both stands. BH price-matched a competitors package rate for me, much appreciated. The pole has 3 widths essentially, double check my measurements though somethin like 50mm, 45mm, and then speaker width for the adaptor on top (35mm?). One of my stands is slightly off center. That is, when you screw it into the base, the knob is slightly off to an angle in comparison to the square baseplate. This isn't a problem for the speakers since the top is circular though the 45mm section has a flat side to it and when I mounted my Hex Wash on this stand it was slightly angled (hardly noticeable, more of an OCD thing or if up close). Hoping I can take it apart and re-align it. Only other criticism is the packaging. Came with a pole bag and a base plate bag. I wasn't expecting a base plate bag so I honestly don't care about the next issue: They essentially glue one side of the base plate bag to the styrofoam so there's a bunch of white small foam bits that are stuck to both of my bags. Got most of em off with a vacuum and a scraper, all in all just happy to have the bags included. Otherwise nothing damaged, packing near 50lbs of equipment is no small feat. Base plate tore through some of the packaging but was pretty much unscathed. Packaging is on Chauvet, BH did just fine. Ordered both at the same time and one arrived a day later, no big deal since I got free shipping.

Is this stand heavy duty and stable enough to be a tripod for a video camera? I would have it permanently bolted to the floor

The CHAUVET DJ FLEXstand Telescoping Floor Stand for Lighting and Audio (Black, 8') has the capacity of 132 lb. Since even the heaviest cinema camera's weight is 50 lb less than that, you will be set. Bolting it down will make it permanent.
