RCF TTW4-A Overview

Audio engineers and professional audio rental houses looking for a powered speaker with outstanding tonal balance and intelligibility while maintaining an unobtrusive and adaptable footprint will be thrilled with the black RCF TTW 4-A, a dual 10", 2-way 3200W active wide-directivity, line-source array loudspeaker, designed for small- to medium-sized areas for DJs, audio engineers, and rigging technicians in clubs, houses of worship, concert venues, and live stage applications. The highly flexible speaker fills the gaps between point source and line array speakers, providing augmented coverage adaptability.

The TTW 4-A utilizes a 3200W Class-D amplifier to power the two 10" neodymium woofers and 1.5" neodymium compression driver, yielding a frequency response of 45 Hz to 20 kHz. Onboard FirPHASE filters deliver optimum imaging and phase response with minimal latency. Built-in DSP provides thermal and RMS protections plus a soft limiter. The onboard controls include a RDNet bypass button and a system setup encoder, which offers gain reduction, time delay, and preset selection.

The rear panel offers an XLR input and XLR thru for daisy chaining to additional speakers. Two etherCON ports are available for connecting to RCF's RDNet protocol, which allows the speaker to be controlled by the RDNet software remotely. Standard powerCON input and output jacks are employed for straightforward integration with typical power configurations. The TTW 4-A's Baltic birch plywood cabinet is waterproof and features built-in carry handles and rigging points. A powerCON power cord is included.

Flexible Deployment
  • Top-quality sound for highly demanding events indoors or outdoors in small- to medium-sized areas. The loudspeaker's flexibility fills the gaps between point source and line array speakers, providing the audio engineer with augmented coverage adaptability. This approach combines all the advantages of TT+ technology, such as controlled dispersion, outstanding clarity, and extreme power with three coverage options, multiple rigging accessories, remote control, and recallable presets. A groundbreaking solution for a vast range of applications.
Waveguide
  • 100 x 50° waveguide with coherent directivity.
  • This special waveguide design allows the deployment of multiple TTW 4-A for remarkable control of directional characteristics. In difficult acoustic environments, intelligibility is significantly increased.
RCF RDNet
  • RDNet is a robust management network and control platform for small, medium, and large arena-sized sound systems as well as complex and extended installations. Based on a proprietary network protocol, RDNet provides intuitive control and monitoring of every connected device/object in the RCF audio system. Each device has DSP to address specific presets or modifications of parameters to single or groups of objects. A network user can change level, delay, EQ (linear phase FiR as well), and other settings, including advanced subwoofer configurations. RDNet is not only designed for loudspeakers—you can control parameters and routing of multiple RCF devices, such as digital matrixes or amplifiers.
FiR Phase
  • RCF speakers are designed using a proprietary and advanced FiR filtering technology, conceived to deliver transparent sound, absolute clarity, and perfect stereo images to the listener.
  • The special FiRPHASE filters allow to achieve coherent distribution of sound for all listeners without phase distortions, ensuring minimum latencies to the system.
Rigging Flexibility
  • All the mechanical structure is built in high-strength structural steel. Thanks to this material, the rigging has a high safety factor.
  • The cabinets feature a steel pole mount cap, multiple suspension brackets on top and bottom and two M8 lateral screws.
  • Optional rigging accessories include a U-bracket, a multi-purpose fly-bar, and adjustable poles for floor stand or subwoofer pole. The compactness and lightweight of the system, combined with top of class rigging system, guarantee a fast hanging procedure.
State-of-the-Art Class-D Amplifiers
  • Two independent Class-D amplifiers with 1600W total power output per module make this loudspeaker one of the most powerful column array modules on the market compared to its size.
Temperature Control
  • Internal temperature control is driven by air flowing via natural convection, cooling its critical parts. The housing of the electronics and the amplifiers in a solid aluminum extrusion block acts as an efficient thermal sink.
Engineered for Maximum Reliability
  • The housing is tightly fitted and sealed to the rear of the cabinet. A recessed and protected panel houses the connections for power and signal.
Input Board
  • The analog input board is fully featured offering XLR input and output link, preset selections, and a pre-loaded equalization bypass switch. Ethercon input and output connect the system in a daisy chain topology for RDNet networked management.
DSP Processing
  • The integrated digital processor is based on a state-of-the-art 32-bit DSP running at 48 kHz sampling rate. The calculation capacity largely exceeds the processing needs and the DSP is never pushed to the limit. It runs algorithms for the crossover, the equalization of the transducers, the limiter, and system presets such as high-pass filters, air absorption, and cluster-size corrections.
Onboard Presets
  • L1. Linear: Totally linear preset. The speaker curve response is perfectly linear. It is ideal when listening outdoor or in low-reverberation rooms, at medium distance, and at a medium- or high-sound pressure level.
  • L2. Linear High Pass: This preset is the same as L1 with a 24 dB/oct. high-pass filter at 100 Hz. To be used when the speaker is a part of a bigger system, when it's a satellite of a subwoofer system or when the application is speech reproduction.
  • L3. Linear Low Level Playback: This preset is linear with a gentle +3 dB boost at low frequency. To be used when playing at lower level or for playback music.
  • L4. Linear Indoor: This preset is linear with a gentle -3 dB shelf at low frequency. It is ideal for a better sound balance in reverberant rooms and for indoor speech reproduction.
  • C1. Close: Close listening preset. To be used when the average listener is closer than 3 meters. The preset shows a gentle -3 dB shelf in high frequencies. The sound balance is natural and never aggressive.
  • C2. Close High Pass: This preset is the same as C1 with a 24 dB/oct. high-pass filter at 100 Hz.
  • F1. Far: Far listening preset. To be used when the average listener distance is more than 10 meters. The preset shows a +3 dB shelf in high frequencies to compensate the air absorption. The clarity and intelligibility in distance are improved.
  • F2. Far High Pass: This is the same as F1 with a 24 dB/oct. high-pass filter at 100 Hz.
  • S1, S2. Side Coupling Presets: These presets are linear when the speakers are coupled side to side. These presets are properly designed for speakers coupled with a horizontal coupling angle from 60 to 80°. The front of the cabinets shall be split and the rear of the cabinets shall be close. The S2 preset features the low-frequency, high-pass filter.
  • U1, U2. Vertical Coupling Presets: These presets are linear when the speaker are coupled vertically. The U2 preset features the low-frequency, high-pass filter.

  • Our latest developments have resulted in designing advanced neodymium magnetic circuits, radically new voice coil ventilation systems, and groundbreaking direct-drive voice-coil assemblies.
Weatherproof Baltic Birch Plywood
  • The TT 4-A cabinet is carefully engineered to pack the maximum output and superb sound quality in the minimum size.
  • The cabinet is made of high-quality Baltic birch plywood with every layer glued with a special adhesive that makes the cabinet completely water-resistant, even before the painting process.
Powder Coated Grille
  • The heavy-duty front grille is powder coated.
  • A special transparent-to-sound foam backing on the inside of the grille helps to further protect the transducers from dust.
Aluminum Side Handles
  • The cabinet features two die-cast aluminum side handles with ergonomic rubber hand grip and two recessed handles on the back.
