I experienced a power outage two days after installing the unit. It worked just fine for me. The alert went off, and I was able to shut down without any issues. My equipment was saved. We were back in operation as soon as the power was restored.

Backup To Handle Power Outages

My house has a backup generator to automatically handle blackouts. The PC has a UPS and the laptop has it's own battery. But I would lose my wireless router and cable modem until the power was restored and then, after they booted. I added this UPS to keep those devices functional until the street power returns or the generator starts. So far it has worked perfectly. We had a day with thunderstorms and the wall power went off twice. Only momentarily, but enough the UPS for the desktop PC did it's job. This UPS worked as expected. The router and cable modem remained online and connected.

Mine powers two monitors, router, modem, computer, and from my experience, it lasts about 20-30 minutes, more than enough time to power everything down.

I assume the unit beeps when it is on power. Is there a way to turn off the beep without turning off the unit?
Asked by: Jay
The unit only beeps when there is a power outage and you only have so many minutes to turn off your devices and presumably save your data that maybe lost.

How to change the battery?

You are kidding me, right??? It's OK, I can take a joke.Google is your friend, as is the APC website, or their tech suppot peeps. As a last resort turn turtle with that sucker, flip it on it's back and ponder it's bottom side for practical hints on easy resolution.

I also connect my landline phone and wireless router so both will operate during a power outage.

question

How do you change the batteries?
Asked by: Anonymous
Hi,On the bottom of the unit, there is a sliding cover. Slide it off and it reveals the battery. The battery will half come out. The wires connecting the battery will come off - just use a bit of force as they are attached pretty firmly.
