I just received this stand, but I can't figure out how to lock or tighten the boom arm. Where is the thread lock on the boom arm hinge?
Asked by: Nader
When the boom arm is fully extended and the spring lock is pushed downward, the arm can be locking using the main ratchet handle to the left of the spring lock.

question

Compared to the 420B, apart from lacking a sandbag, is this also a less robust stand? I notice the maximum load is lower for the 420SNB.
Asked by: Terence
The Manfrotto 420B, B&H # MA420B and the 420NSB are the same stand, with the latter not including the empty sandbag.

How well would this fair with a Profoto B10 Plus with an RFI 1X3 Strip box?
Asked by: Andre
At max extension this boom is rated for less than 2 lbs. It would not be suitable. The larger Avenger would be able to do it at a partial but not full extension. https://bhpho.to/3bH4yo9

Can this boom pole stand hold a DSLR and lens for a flat-lay filming as well? Thanks!
Asked by: Sarah
The Manfrotto 208 3/8" Head Mounting Plate with Lock Screws B&H # MA208 can be inserted at the end of the boom in place of the included stud. This plate can then accept a ball head such as the Manfrotto 496RC2 Compact Ball Head with 200PL-14 Quick Release Plate B&H # MA496RC2 to hold your DSLR. https://bhpho.to/2qzA4xA https://bhpho.to/2QuMfg0

question

How long can this boom extend horizontally? Can this boom take more then 3.3 lb of weight at the end for a light without bending the boom?
Asked by: Greg
I have this boom and need to replace the arm because it has bent from too much weight. The arm is aluminum and will bend if overloaded and extended. I had an Elinchrom moonlight and soft-box, probably about 4-5 lbs.
