AKG's A 48 V Phantom Power Adapter for the B 18 Battery Power Supply is a converter that turns your 18V power accessory into a 48V phantom power source for condenser mics. It can power many phantom-powered mics that perform at higher voltages and lower impedances, including most of AKG's mics. Notable exceptions are high-impedance mics like AKG's C 414 and C 480 B.
The adapter replaces one of two 9V batteries in the B 18, and lowers overall impedance to output 48V from a single 9V battery.

By lowering impedance, the A 48 V can push a higher output voltage to your wireless mics than the B 18 will supply while using only a single 9V battery as input. It's perfect for voltage-hungry condensers that aren't picky about impedance level.
Improved Dynamic Range
Powering mics on batteries often results in a lower dynamic level than feeding mics from an AC-powered mixer (i.e., a mic's dynamic range can drop from 112 dB to 98 dB). If you want to drive your signals hotter, use the A 48 V to step up the voltage.

Phantom-Powered Microphones
The A 48 V and B 18 together can power any condenser mic with standard XLR connectors that accepts low-impedance 48V input. This spans most of AKG's mics including the MicroMic III Series and the C 430 MicroMic. Hungry high-impedance mics that won't work with the Adapter include AKG's C 414 models and the C 480 B.
