Gitzo Systematic Series 4 Carbon Fiber Tripod... Reviews

Best Tripod I have ever used

This thing is a tank of a tripod. It is the best one I have ever used since 1981.The series 4 head is amazing. The friction setting is amazingly easy to set. It has a click function that is very intuitive. The legs are super easy to adjust the G-Lock Ultra twist locks work flawlessly with just a simple quarter turn. Super stable, supports my Z9 with a 300mm f2.8 VRII with no problem. I actually prefer using the supplied ball head over my gimbal head. The series 4 ball head is much more compact and easier to carry around. This should last for years to come, thanks Gitzo and B&H.

I Loved it for literally 1 minute....until

I was all ready-to-go with this amazing tripod until I pulled it out-of-the-box and (attempted) to extend the legs. Two of the three legs on the bottom broke-I was shocked! The entire tripod is an extremely well-built, carbon-fiber constructed tank and then the extensions for the legs have some cheaply constructed plastic or paper-thin spring type of clip that just crumbled into pieces when I barely touch the legs. What a waste of design and materials. One leg slipped out and fell on the floor. If this design had a different type of leg construction I would give it another chance and it would have most likely got a 5-star review over time, but I will sadly have to say NO to GITZO.
