Dual Electronics CS 429 Reviews

The best fully-automatic turntable money can buy

This turntable has made listening to records fun again for us. We also have a high-end turntable that is absolutely superior and sounds incredible—but it has gotten almost no use. We just don't enjoy fiddling manually with the tonearm, finding the right position to drop the needle—maybe in low light in the evening—and then having to rush back to lift the tonearm after the record ends. After years of owning the high-end table but barely using it—and letting our large record collection sit ignored—I figured it was time to try something different. The Dual CS 429 is a perfect record player. It sounds wonderful, even magical—that’s because I’m using an Ortofon Bronze cartridge. I can’t speak for the Red or the internal phono preamp, but most audiophiles don’t use onboard phono preamps anyway. It’s so much easier—and more fun—for us to put on a record when all you have to do is push the start button, then forget about it and enjoy the music. Lo and behold, records are being pulled from the shelf, the music is playing, and we’re actually listening again. Very, very happy.

I was looking for a turntable for our family room to play LPs, 45s, and even 78s and his table does all that well. It is fully automatic which makes it easy for the family to use. Also, it is easy to change out cartridges if I want to move from stereo to mono or to one made specifically for 78 rpm records.

I am interested in this turntable to connect ...

I am interested in this turntable to connect directly to my Edifier powered speakers. However, I saw the owner's manual online and it only provides connection instructions to an amplifier. How do connect it to speakers? Is the ground wire needed in this setup?

If using powered speaker with the Dual Electronics CS 429 Fully Automatic Three-Speed Turntable, you would connect with just RCA cable from the back of the turntable to the powered speakers.
