Leofoto VH-30N Reviews

WOrks flawlessly when lens tripod foot is used!

The Leofoto VH-30N Two-Way Monopod Head is a fantastic, very high-quality pano head for use with monopods and tripods and long lenses WITH a tripod foot. The construction is top notch, and had no trouble supporting and working fluidly with a Nikon Z8 and a Nikkor Z 180-600 f/5.6-6.3 telephoto zoom lens. (I'm sure it could handle heavier cameras and lenses as well.) I am able to capture eagles in trees easier than when handholding this rig. The tension knob works smoothly as well, able to adjust tension on the fly...pardon the pun. Overall, the Leofoto Leofoto VH-30N Two-Way Monopod Head is highly recommended. Side note: If you want to use this head mounted directly to a camera's L-bracket, you would need a rotating pano head such as the Leofoto RH-2L on the monopod head.

Very pleased with purchase overall

I bought this head after comparing it to the Acratech panoramic head for use on my tripod. The Acratech is a bit expensive for me at this time, so I bought this head after reading the reviews. I purchased the Leofoto leveling base to go with this head. I definitely like the independent controls instead of a ball head, but you do have to remember to lock each of them down. I like the lever controls for tension and forward/backward movement and do not mind the knob for tightening the plate. (Obviously, a quicker release would be possible with the lever, but the cost was not justifiable for me at this time). It did still have a little drift when putting my 100-400mm L lens and camera pointed up (for something like the moon high in the sky), but the more I fiddled with the tension and used the leveling base as the final step, the less it drifted. It seems to handle that position better than my ball head. I have had it out in the rain (and dried it as thoroughly as I was able), but it is still pretty new, so I cannot assess how it will hold up long-term. Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase.
