Leofoto VH-30N Reviews

Exactly what my Monopod needs.

I tried ball heads and even a side-mount gimbal head for my monopod and the awkwardness of my setup with those heads just dont seem to be all that smooth and comfortable. I found myself fidgeting and adjusting every few seconds. The tilt head is simple - it sits directly on top of the monopod and the camera setup sits directly in line on top of that - that means you can lean on/into the monopod for extra stability which was the biggest issue I had with the others that cant do that. The tilt head also has big levers so you can quickly find them without looking and loosen or tighten the tilt/pan mechanisms which is a plus. I find they might be a bit TOO big though and get in the way sometimes, but thankfully bumping into them doesn't actually loosen them which is nice. The biggest disadvantage to a tilt head over a gimbal head is the lack of ability to just leave the camera in space with the knobs loose - you MUST remember to tighten the levers if you are letting go of the camera - but I feel like the gimbal head feature is only really useful for the super telephotos like the 400mm 2.8 and such - if you use a RF 100-500 or similar like I do, you want the ability to center the monopod in front of you and lean onto it for stability while still freely moving around and this tilt head does exactly that. I use it for: RF 100-500 setup for telephoto aviation and wildlife - I still shoot handheld a lot, but this tilt head on a monpod is super handy for those standing around waiting for the bird to take off moments I love it. My full macro lens/flash/diffuser setup - the monopod paired with this tilt head and a foot stabilizer eliminates the fatigue from trying to keep the camera from swaying at the same time as waiting for the leaf to stop blowing in the wind long enough to get a picture of the insect on the leaf. I can freely keep the camera in that exact spot trained on the subject and methodically push in and out for the focus without the camera rising/falling and my arms getting tired - super clutch if something is above me and I have to keep one arm extended with the heavy macro rig somehow stable to get the shot - now this just does it effortlessly. If you are the type who feels more comfortable with everything centered and a smaller footprint, the tilt head is where its at - and this solid build all metal tilt head is the right choice.

I Love This Head. It’s Solid, Smooth, And Reliable. I Can’t Stand Ball Heads, And This Is A Far Better, More Precise Alternative. Highly Recommended.
