Libec REC-LA Overview

Enable remote REC start/stop control for LANC-equipped Atomos monitor/recorders, as well as select Sony, JVC, Panasonic, and Canon cameras, with the Rec/Stop Remote Control from Libec. The control clamps onto your tripod handle or any rod with a diameter measuring from 0.4 to 1.8".

It features a 3.3' long cable with a 2.5mm LANC connector for connecting and controlling your camera or monitor/recorder's start/stop function. The REC-LA doesn't require a power supply and is powered using a single CR2032 battery.

If the only remote function you want for the Atomos Ninja is a start/stop switch this works fine. But I remain astonished that it is ~$150......

I needed a way to keep from fat - ingering my Ninja V when going into record. I also wanted more of a tactile feel. The Libec fit the bill in both cases. I use three Ninja V's with AtomX Sync modules, so all I have to do is start my master recorder and the other two start up with it. Pushing one button to start all three is a great feature. Works like a charm, right out of the box.

does work directly with the Atomos Ninja V+ or needs to be connected to a camera first? Atomos Ninja V+ says it only supports LANC Slave mode (via camera)

The question is about Ninja V+, not Ninja, could you please confirm if I connect this Libec REC-LA to an Atomos Ninja V+ directly (NOT to a camera, directly to the Ninja V+), will it trigger the recording? Thansk

Yes, the Libec Rec/Stop Remote Control for Atomos Recorders/LANC Equipment would work with the Atomos Shogun. The Shogun has a serial 2.5 mm jack for start and stop recording via compatible LANC remotes.

The Atomos Sumo19 will not support external control with start stop controller. The lanc port is specifically made to be triggered from specific LANC cameras from Sony and Canon.
