Tilta TGA-ARG-RCH Overview

A built-in thumb/joystick controls your gimbal's pan/tilt movement, enabling fine adjustment and smooth camera moves while holding the ring with both hands. Likewise, the integrated focus wheel allows you to control your camera's focus via optional DJI and Tilta wireless follow focus systems. When using the control handle mounted on your Advanced Ring Grip, no battery is required. However, when used by itself, you need to install the 18650 battery to power the handle.

I bought this for use with my Tilta ring grip, but unfortunately the power button and focus wheel don’t work. It is quite odd; I’m able to turn it on but I can’t turn it off and can’t access the menu etc…to change any settings, so it’s essentially useless. I’m extremely frustrated, as I needed this for a job in early January. I saw an option to buy one used for a bit cheaper, but decided to buy brand new to AVOID the possibility of having any issues with it, but clearly that was pointless. It is just so frustrating when you buy something brand new and it arrives broken and inoperable. Very disappointed. I’ve bought from BH in the past and haven’t had any issues until now. I haven’t heard from BH or Tilta yet, but I’m hoping this can be resolved quickly and without me having to pay shipping and duties on another product. I will update this review once I’ve heard from them.

Can this be used as a wireless follow focus as well as gimbal control?

Yes, but you need the correct battery. 18650 battery (usually used for flashlights). Be very careful to always put the battery in the right way or you can fry it. Range is about 125 feet - but also works right on a rig if you are solo operating.
