Do you have to add all the drives at once or can you add to bays as needed. (Do they have to be the same size hdds?)
All the drives do not need to be added at once for the NAS Enclosure, depending on how the RAID is configured. The enclosure has twelve 3.5" and four 2.5" sized bays for drives.

Depends on your needs, as there are options for 1TB and 2TB. With two slots, this means you can configure either 2TB (2x1TB) or 4TB (2x2TB) all together.
