Looking to connect an HDMI cable from a Lenovo ...

Looking to connect an HDMI cable from a Lenovo laptop to one of the display ports on an IOgear KVM switch. Will it work?
Asked by: Robert
Probably not. This adapter works for converting DisplayPort output (from computer or other source) to HDMI input (on display/KVM/whatever). My understanding is you want the reverse functionality, and that requires an active adapter with an external power source. They are available, but harder to find and more expensive.

Does this transfer enough power to be able to connect an additional adapter? I'm trying to connect a PC with Displayport to a monitor with DVI. I already have an HDMI to DVI adapter and I'm looking to save a few bucks by getting a a Displayport to HDMI adapter and using my spare HDMI to DVI adapter.
Asked by: Joshua
No, I doubt that would work, but you could just get a DisplayPort to DVI adapter. Those are out there and I'm sure you can find a good one on B&H. Just search 'DP to DVI.'
