Urth Circular Polarizing and ND Lens Filter Plus+ Set (39mm)
Key Features
  • 1.8 Optical Density
  • 6-Stop ND Filter
  • 20-Layer Nano-Coatings
  • Professional B270 Schott Optical Glass
The 39mm Circular Polarizing and ND Lens Filter Plus+ Set from Urth cuts polarized light to increase contrast and boosts color saturation and vibrancy. It also cuts 6 f-stops of light for motion blur and depth of field effects in bright light. Polarized light can wash out images with silvery reflected light and the ND and Circular Polarizer Filter Plus+ cuts out 99.9% of reflected light from water, glass, and non-metallic surfaces, uncovering bolder colors. The filter also blocks a fixed 6 f-stops of light entering your camera, allowing you to use slower shutter speeds for long exposure and wider apertures for shallower depth of field effects in bright light. The Plus+ features 20-layers of nano-coating providing easier cleaning and better protection against water, oil and scratches. These layers also provide a higher maximum light transmission and a more consistent transmission curve for sharper images, finer colors and greater depth.

Urth Plus+ CPL + ND Filter Reviews

Control the Chaos, Capture the Light

As a photographer who works in constantly changing environments — from harsh desert light to unpredictable coastal skies — I’m always searching for tools that offer me greater control over light. The URTH ND64 + CPL Polarizing Filter Plus+ has quickly become one of my favorite pieces of gear because it does exactly that. It lets me shape light, reduce glare, and slow time — all in one beautifully crafted filter.Let’s begin with what this filter actually is. It combines two essential tools in one: an ND64 neutral density filter and a circular polarizer (CPL). The ND64 component gives you a solid 6 stops of light reduction, which is perfect for long exposure shots in daylight — think silky water, blurred motion, or shallow depth of field in bright conditions. The CPL cuts reflections and enhances contrast, especially in skies, water, and glass. Together, they give you complete creative control without needing to stack filters or carry multiple accessories. From the moment I unpacked it, I could tell this was a premium product. The build quality is solid — aerospace-grade aluminum, smooth threading, and an ultra-thin frame to prevent vignetting, even on wide-angle lenses. The glass itself is high-quality German optics with nano-coatings that resist fingerprints, water, and dust. That’s not marketing fluff — I’ve used this filter in coastal environments with sea spray and dust, and it wipes clean without smearing or scratching. In practice, this filter delivers results. I used it on a recent trip to Joshua Tree, shooting during midday with harsh overhead sun. Normally, this kind of light is tough to work with, but with the ND64 + CPL, I was able to slow my shutter speed and eliminate the washed-out glare bouncing off rocks and scrub. The colors were richer, shadows softer, and the overall image had more depth. It didn’t feel like I was fighting the light — it felt like I was sculpting it.Another example: I did a street portrait session at golden hour with reflective windows all around. The CPL handled the reflections without dulling the natural warmth of the sunlight. I kept the filter on while filming some B-roll too, and it gave my footage a cinematic softness that I loved — no weird color shifts, no artifacts, just clean, natural results. One of the biggest concerns with combination filters is image quality loss. But here, the URTH filter held up impressively. Sharpness was retained edge-to-edge, and I saw no noticeable color cast. Some cheaper ND filters shift your white balance toward green or magenta — not here. I still shoot in RAW, of course, but it's nice knowing I don’t have to correct the image just to make it neutral again. The rotating mechanism for the polarizer is smooth and precise, not too loose and not too stiff. I can adjust the polarizing effect easily, even with the filter mounted. That’s important when you’re composing fast or dealing with changing skies.Beyond performance, I also value URTH’s ethos. They plant trees with every product sold and are committed to reducing waste in their packaging and production. That environmental consciousness matters to me — photography is about connecting with the world, and it makes sense to support companies that are trying to preserve it.Now, is this filter for everyone? Maybe not. If you’re just starting out and rarely shoot in strong light or reflective conditions, you might not need this level of precision yet. But for photographers and filmmakers who understand how crucial light control is to storytelling, this is a must-have. It simplifies your kit, improves your images, and doesn’t get in your way.To wrap it up: the URTH ND64 + CPL Polarizing Filter Plus+ is an incredibly useful and well-crafted tool that empowers creativity without compromise. Whether you're shooting landscapes, portraits, travel, or video, it gives you more control, more consistency, and better results. It’s earned a permanent place in my camera bag — and probably always will have one.5 stars. Highly recommended.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I tried this on a bright morning when the ground was covered in a dusting of snow and loved the results. The photos were sharp and clear and I loved the hue on them too. Very satisfied with this purchase

Does this fit on a Canon 20mm VCM lens with the hood attached?
Asked by: John
The Urth Circular Polarizing and ND Lens Filter Plus+ Set (67mm) is not fully compatible with the Canon RF 20mm f/1.4 L VCM Lens when using the Canon EW-73H Lens Hood, which would interfere with the ability to rotate the polarizing filter correctly.
