Do I have to remove the heatsink that comes with the Seagate Firecuda NVME before using this enclosure?
Asked by: Joseph
NO, ABSOLUTELY NOT. I bought this enclosure because of the previous staff answer to this question. Was hoping to fit my Crucial T500 M.2 with heatsink (80.01 x 23.37 x 9.65 mm) which is smaller than your Seagate FireCuda NVMR (80.14 x 24.21 x 11.1 mm). The Crucial with heatsink does NOT fit in the height or width of this Sabrent enclosure. It does fit an work if you either remove the heatsink from the NVME, OR take the main board out of the Sabrent enclosure and plug the drive in "naked" and in the up (not locked in) position. I wish I could send pictures in this Q&A section so I can show you but photos are not allowed--I'll instead post my review and pictures to the Product Reviews area instead.

No, the Sabrent USB 3.2 Type-C Tool-Free Enclosure for M.2 PCIe NVMe and SATA SSDs cannot be used as a bootable external drive for an M1 Mac. To make a bootable drive for an M1 Mac, you'll need a drive or enclosure that connects over Thunderbolt 3, like the Sabrent Thunderbolt 3 to M.2 NVMe SSD Tool-Free Enclosure (B&H # SAECT3NS).
