Canon G620 Reviews

This Printer is Amazing! So is B&H!

After so many years of refilling ink cartridges myself, I decided it was time for a change. After research, the G620 looked perfect. Even if I do run out of ink the individual color refills are still very reasonably priced. Photo quality is great, setup was simple. It's awesome. As for B&H; I had ordered this same printer from Best Buy. They shipped via Ontrac. Ontrac always claims they can't find my building which is a joke. As per usual, they claimed they couldn't find me and sent it back. So I contacted B&H to ask what carrier they use. Got a prompt reply that is was FedEx. I ordered right after that and had my printer in 3 days. B&H rocks and so does this printer!

Had a pixma8220 that was great except it drank like a fish. Thought I give this a shot. Not used it much at all yet. The specs say the G620 scanner has less resolution but its Ok for most use I kept the 8220 to use it I need more res. The G620 is very easy to set up and use as others mention the LCD is miniscule but that is minor. It recognized my laptop right away wirelessly and works with the cable from my desktop. Makes noise like most printers does not seem to do the endless cleaning cycles of it predecessor. I like it a lot but have only done office type printing if its photo stuff is out of the ordinary or extrodinary I come back for more comments.

Expensive paper weight

I bought this a little over a year ago and loved it until the last 3 months where it has become a very expensive paper weight. One of the print heads is not functioning and despite attempts to clean it. Shouldn't be an issue though right because the print heads are replaceable? Wrong. They're never in stock. As in not once in 3 months have I seen the left print head in stock. You can't find them anywhere. Obviously they're in the brand new printers so they exist. Just not for anyone that needs to replace the print heads. Useless.

Easy to fill with the bottles supplied. The pictures seem quite good, and the print is very detailed. The small screen is hard to see as the printer sits on my desk next to the computer, and I can't see what is says unless I stand up and put a flash light on the digital screen. It is not the fastest printer although the first print is acceptably quick. It is nice to know that I will not have to spend so much on ink cartridges.

For the price, it's a winner

Having had no printer for a couple of years, it's a pleasure to have one that meets my needs again. I selected an epson prior to the prisma. Also a tank variety. It disappointed for a number if reasons. But this one has,so far, been meeting expectations. The color printing is reliable. It is encouraging to know the inks will not need frequent replacement. It has a few shortcomings worth noting. It would be helpful if the on printer screen was back-lit for easy viewing. It would also be an improvement if it did 2 sided printing. For now, I recommend this printer if you can live with this two downsides.

Bang for buck best photo printer

I bought this printer 45 days ago and have printed hundreds of shots school photos, land scape etc. B % H has the most items for this print as well. It has a disposable cheap waste tank so no lock ups when full super nice at this price. The only printer that comes close to this one in quality is the ET8550 and more than twice the price. it doesn't clog like my epsons. If I don't print on my epson every few days I have problems. I have a canon pro 100 and a pro 1000 and an epson P700 and the XP 7100 and for small work 8x10 and below I use this printer 90 Percent of the time. The colors are bright and very nice especially on gloss semi and art paper with at least a semi gloss. Prints real well on the cheap koala paper that is the Luster. I love this thing and it cost so little to print all you want making it perfect to get you into printing as you will make so many mistakes in color and setting up your monitor and ICC profiles. Why waste expensive ink. I print from my phone iPad and Mac no problem. Now this is a 100 percent photo printer. sure it does office stuff but if you want a good office printer get the Canon Image class MF743 or something like that. This is really dialed in for photos. You will make your money back fast and once you dial in your prints u can't touch it. Also note its not good on thick card stocks yay are flat flat its great if you use a semi gloss or gloss or luster. if using a lot of black as it does not have a flat photo black like the Pro 1000 or the Epson P700 -900 does but so worth the money when dye is ok and not having to use Ink. Super buy you won't regret it and if you are a photographer this is a no brainer. you should be printing all your work. Good luck. Happy Printing.

Print Quality and Value Excellent

I have enjoyed using this printer for the most part. I bought it to print small batches of note cards that I sell along with my fine art prints (printed on Canon Pro-4100). So why 4 stars rather than 5? Well I'm a bit disappointed in the limitations on the borderless printing. Canon's printer driver only supports specific paper sizes for borderless printing and Statement (1/2 letter - 5.5x8.5) is not one of them and of course my note card stock is Statement sized. My workaround has been to switch to Letter sized stock and print to cards to a page and then cut them. It adds an extra step, but it works for now. I hope Canon updates the driver to allow Statement sized borderless printing.

Perfect volume printer

After lots of reading and research, I bought the G620 for printing my smaller prints that I sell. First few hundred look fantastic with accurate color reproduction. I know some people are mentioning the small menu screen, it is pretty much irrelevant given the number of times you have to use it. Print quality and cost of printing is by far the value of this printer. Highly recommend as a primary smaller format printer for higher volume photo printing.

The box for the Pixma G620 does come with an installation CD, however the latest drivers should be installed directly from Canon's driver page: https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/support/details/printers/megatank-inkjet-printers/all-megatank-inkjet-printers/pixma-g620?tab=drivers_downloads
