I have dozens of rolls of old negatives from my late father that my family wants to digitize. Since they're all color negatives, and the prints are not associated with the negatives, there's no way to know which are worth scanning. I have some very high end film scanners, but those take 5 minutes per negative, while this little Kodak takes just a few seconds. There's no scratch or dust removal, and the quality isn't anywhere near a proper scanner, but if you have to digitize a huge box of negatives, this will do the job.

I had several hundred 40 plus year old Kodachrome slides to review and scan and I found this via a discussion with AI. I had an older flatbed scanner that worked OK but was very slow and cumbersome to use. Good new is that this works much faster and allows for basic changes, mostly on the exposure side. I was not care to see that the vertical shots I had were cut off by the automatic scan feature, and could not figure out how to change that so I slid the vertical shots in like a horizontal shot and then rotated after the fact. I am happy with the amount of detail and preservation of the overall color. These slide were not going to get better with time so best to scan them now. I did not need pro quality as much as speed and convenience

The Kodak Slide-N-Scan Film and Slide Scanner will scan 35mm, 110 and 126 film, as well as 35mm slides and make 14MP image files. All files produced are 14MP.

Can you scan the slides directly into your computer (instead of scanning to an sd card)?

The Kodak Slide-N-Scan Film and Slide Scanner does not support direct scanning to a computer. You must use it with an SD card and download the photos from the card to the computer.

How are files numbered can the series be interrupted for use by a second person and then resumed?

The numbering on the Kodak Slide-N-Scan Film and Slide Scanner is sequential. If you do not take the memory card out or delete the images on it, the numbers will continue with the latest file number on the card.
