Leofoto QS Overview

The QS-45 Quick-Link Set from Leofoto is a quick release system that allows tripod heads to be exchanged from a leg set and then locked securely with a simple twist in just seconds. When traveling or on location every ounce counts, and the Quick-Link system makes it possible to travel with a single tripod leg set but multiple heads for different applications.

This set includes a 45mm-diameter receiver base and one connecting plate. Each component features anti-twist set screws to prevent any unwanted rotation.

I purchased my first QS60 after screwing on the 3/8 for decades about 5 years ago. I own 9 tripods and twelve different types of head, so i slowing did them all with bases and receiver on heads. Now i can go from ball head to 2-way to 360 panorama head to 3-way to and tripod i want in a click. Solid - no issues - BIG timesaver!

I have 12x of these plates, they're on all my heads, and three of my legs... I think they're great, and will extend the lifespan of my heads, and gives me new levels of flexibility. I've deducted one star because they don't really lock shut. I have anxiety that I (or an assistant) will inadvertantly loosen the quick-release and the head+camera will tumble to the ground. It would be 5-stars for sure if the quick release locked.

What is the purpose of the tiny set screw on top of the base? Does that lock it so it can’t untwist?

Yes, the set screw on the Leofoto QS-45 Quick-Link Tripod Head Quick Release Set (45mm) prevents any unwanted movement of the base.

Is there a 'locking ring' that secures the head ...

Is there a 'locking ring' that secures the head to the tripod, or does the head simply 'twist-lock' on to the tripod? I am concerned that accidentally twisting the camera could unlock the head from the tripod and the camera could fall off. Do these interchange with the Arca-Swiss?

Yes, there is a locking mechanism for the Leofoto QS-45 Quick-Link Tripod Head Quick Release Set (45mm). When one drops the connecting plate on the receiver base, one then turns the ring on the receiver base clockwise to lock the plate in place. To unlock, simply turn the ring counter clockwise. This is similar to the Arca-Swiss Quick-Link but they run in different sizes. The QS-45 is 45mm and much smaller than the Arca-Swiss Quick-Link size.

Leofoto QS-50 Quick-Link Tripod Head Quick Release Set (50mm) comes with a 3/8" screw that will screw onto the bottom of your tripod head and will allow you to have quick release between the tripod head and the tripod.
