Mount your Canon EOS C70 camera on a shoulder rig, tripod, or other rig type and add accessories with this Baseplate with 15mm Rod System from SHAPE. The system features a baseplate with 15mm LWS rod clamps, a camera adapter plate, and two aluminum 15mm rods that measure 12" in length.
The baseplate features two 1/4"-20 screws to securely mount your camera, as well as multiple 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 tripod mounting threads on the bottom. There is an included HDMI cable clamp that mounts on the side of the baseplate to help prevent your camera cables from pulling. The standard 15mm LWS rod clamps secure the included 15mm rods with locking levers, allowing you to add accessories such as a follow focus, matte box, and more. Rubber pads on the camera adapter plate protect your camera from scratching and help prevent twisting.

SHAPE B15C70 Reviews
Solid!
I needed something sturdy for my Canon C70 which allowed me to secure my HDMI cable into the camera. . Simple and well designed.
Not recommended
After using this for a few shoots I am definitely having buyers remorse. Here are a few of the issues I've identified. Hopefully they can help you make an informed choice when deciding whether or not to include this in your setup. 1) the rod system and baseplate. They are held together by little, fiddly screws that mean you can't detach it from the baseplate without effort. Not ideal if you want to shift your camera off the plate to a gimbal, or go handheld. To do so you have to first detach the rod system (without losing the screws) then detach the baseplate. The rod system only has mounts on the central lens-to-rear axis of the mount not the horizontal axis. 2) the baseplate itself is not compatible with anything other than the rod system. There are no other fittings or mounts just the four, tiny screw holes. This renders the whole modular concept moot and makes the detaching process unnecessarily laborious. 3) the HDMI clamp feels cheap and releasing the cable is difficult to the point where you're more likely to damage the cable from trying to remove it from the clamp than you are from accidentally yanking it out. 4) the red locking lever is so difficult and frustrating to use. If you have the camera mounted you don't have 360 degrees to rotate the locking lever and thus can't tighten/adjust the rods. To get around this, Shape installed a common fixture that allow for the lever to be lifted off its axis and turned freely without altering the lock. Except it is almost impossible to do. I've tried and tried and it takes a good minute or so to raise the lever. Its both too small and too tight and the clearance it requires to be lifted over the locking mechanism is so great that even if you do get it in the right position, you end up undoing the progress you've already made. I kid you not, it took me 5 mins just to get the bloody thing to lock. 5) it's not the standard height for a matte box to match the centre of the lens. Not a big problem if you have a matte box that allows for height adjustment, but the plate was advertised as bringing the C70 to the standard height straight out of the box. It's all about bringing setup time down. For $175 I expected a lot more, not just in terms of build quality, which, other than the great job they did on their own logo, is not fantastic, but in terms of its functionality. I won't buy any more products from Shape. I've moved onto Bright Tangerine - who are leagues apart in terms of quality, features and, unfortunately, price - but I have enjoyed more success with products from cheaper brands such as SmallRig and Tilta than I have with Shape.
