Yes, you can use the Wooden Camera Micro Battery Slide with normal size Gold mount batteries. There are no downsides.

Is there a (technical) reason this wouldn't work with cameras other than a Pocket 6K Pro if you have the appropriate Dtap cable?
The Micro Battery Slide Pro (Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K / 6K / 6K G2 / 6K Pro, Gold Mount) comes with a Power cable that would only work with the cameras listed from Black Magic. However if you don't use the power cable is should work with any other camera model if you use the D-Tap connector that is located on most Gold mount Batteries. The Battery slider pro also has 2 D-Tap connectors on the mount. Please note you would need 15mm rods to mount it.
