Technics SC-C70MK2 Overview

The system features a 4.7" woofer, two 3.1" mid-woofers, and two 0.8" tweeters to provide full-range audio. The Space Tune feature performs audio adjustments at the push of a button, and you can fine-tune the audio to your specific preferences with your iOS device. With Chromecast built-in, you can create a whole-home music system to stream the same music to all your Chromecast built-in devices, or specify what you'd like to hear from individual speakers. The OTTAVA f SC-C70MK2 can be controlled either by the included remote control or via your Google Assistant-enabled device on the same network.

Newly Developed Speaker Units & Acoustic Lens

The 4.7" woofer unit offers significantly better basic characteristics as a result of various improvements made, such as the reduced weight of the voice coil, enhanced airflow and increased rigidity of the diaphragm. The woofer provides superb response and sound clarity to reproduce mid- and high-frequency sound comfortable to the ear. The high-res-ready 0.8" dome tweeter units feature a lighter silk diaphragm to provide beautiful lingering sound. What's more, the acoustic lens is optimized for the new tweeter shape and enhances the expansiveness of reproduced sound.

Three JENO Engines

In order to faithfully reproduce the information of rich sounds with the virtual 2.1-channel configuration, three "JENO Engine" (Jitter Elimination and Noise-Shaping Optimization) full digital amplifier units have been equipped. In addition to utilizing the excellent processing capacity of the three units and faithfully driving the left and right channels and subwoofer, Space Tune, which optimizes the sound quality depending on the installation status, has been realized.

Space Tune

The SC-C70MK2 features Space Tune Auto to achieve optimally balanced sound easily with the press of a button. This function measures test tones played through a mic that is built into the SC-C70MK2 to analyze the distance to walls and the effect of reflections. It then automatically optimizes the sound field. In addition, the Space Tune function includes three presets (Free, Near the Wall, and Near the Corner) for easy setting, and uses the Technics Audio Center app to precisely adjust the sound quality to the listening position.

iOS Device Calibration for More Precise Adjustment

Measure room acoustic conditions by using the microphone integrated in your iOS devices. Tune the DSP parameters to optimize acoustic performance.

Multiroom Compatibility with Chromecast built-in

With a number of Chromecast built-in speakers, a variety of music streaming services can be played in several rooms, or different music can be played from room to room. In addition, if you use the Technics Audio Center app and have other compatible Technics devices, you can also enjoy other music sources in multiroom setups, such as Bluetooth, aux or optical input, USB, internet radio, and OTTAVA f SC-C70MK2 compatible streaming music. The Google Home App is required for this functionality.

Complete Compatibility

In addition to CDs and radio, this model is compatible with Chromecast built-in and supports a wide range of music streaming services. It is also compatible with Spotify Connect, Deezer, internet radio, AirPlay 2, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, network playback, USB memory playback, and analog and optical inputs to allow you to enjoy various sound sources with one unit. The UI of the Technics Audio Center App for iOS/Android has also been redesigned, making it easier to use than ever before.

Favorite Function

Up to nine presets can be set on the main unit, such as favorite internet radio stations, a Deezer playlist, and USB songs. This makes it possible to listen to your favorite music without even starting up an app.

I bought the Ottava to replace my old Bose SoundTouch and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Set-up was easy, operation is straightforward and the sound quality is excellent - in every way, it is a noticeable improvement over the SoundTouch.

Way overpriced for what you get

The build quality is excellent. It is irritating that every time I turn unit on I have to say no to connecting to wifi. Putting 'connect to wifi' only if you are trying to actually use wifi would have been the better option. The sound quality is middling. It definitely needs about 50 hours of break in to start sounding decent. I've had several higher end tabletops and one of the better ones was como audio (defunct now, probably because of horrible navigation of buttons). Como's sound was much better at a quarter of the price of this unit. If this tabletop was half the price it would be a decent unit to have.

Yes. You can use BH #KOSMYCM2RM06 to connect the RCA stereo output of a cassette deck into the 1/8'' input on the Technics OTTAVA f SC-C70MK2.

According to page 65 in the manual for the Technics OTTAVA f SC-C70MK2, you can use Apple Airplay with a Macbook Pro on the same wi-fi network as the Technics OTTAVA f SC-C70MK2, to connect them together. You can also use an 1/8'' TRS cable from the headphone output on your computer into the 1/8'' audio input on the Technics OTTAVA f SC-C70MK2.
