Audient ID14 MKII Overview

Simplify the recording process and attain the audio performance of a large-format console in a compact and elegant desktop package with the Audient iD14 MKII, a high-performance 10x6 USB type-C audio interface designed by respected experts, for musicians, producers, podcasters, voiceover artists, and more. The MKII edition not only boasts a fresh exterior, but new wonders inside, such as improved sonics, expanded outputs, and audio loopback for content creators.

The iD14 boasts a pair of the same Class-A mic preamps found in Audient's world-class consoles, ensuring gold-star treatment for your dynamic or phantom-powered condenser microphones. A harmonically rich JFET 1/4" instrument input is also provided, so you can plug your guitar or bass directly into the interface and get the character of valve amplifiers.

Outfitted with 24-bit / 96 kHz AD/DA converters, the iD14 delivers premium accuracy while remaining natural and musical, devoid of problems caused by distortion and unstable clocking. The inclusion of a TOSLINK optical port enables digital input expansion via an ADAT- or S/PDIF-equipped external mic preamp or A/D converter.

With two pairs of stereo 1/4" monitor outputs, 1/4" and 3.5mm headphone outputs, and comprehensive console-style monitor control, the iD14 interface lets you listen to your content in high quality, smoothly adjust your levels, and access dim, cut, mono sum, and more. Plus, there's the revolutionary ScrollControl, a function that can be used to control anything over which your mouse pointer hovers.

DAW software, virtual instruments, samples, cabinet simulations, and more are included to get you started on your path toward achieving polished productions. The iD14 can be powered via USB from your Mac/Windows computer.

What's New in the MKII
  • Redesigned appearance
  • USB Type-C connectivity
  • USB 3.0 bus powered
  • True phantom power over USB
  • Additional monitor/line outputs (four on the MKII versus two on the original iD14)
  • Two headphone outputs (1/4" and 3.5mm), ready to drive headphones up to 600 ohms
  • Improved audio performance specs
  • Audio loopback for content creators
Two Class-A Microphone Preamps
The iD14 incorporates a Class-A microphone design developed by legend David Dearden and optimized over 20 years of refinement. It features high-grade opamp design that delivers low noise, low distortion, and high common mode rejection at all gain levels.
Analog I/O
The analog I/O includes two XLR-1/4" combo mic/line inputs and a harmonically rich discrete JFET DI input, which is designed to replicate the input stage of a classic valve amplifier—plug your guitar, bass, keyboard, or drum machine straight in and start recording instantly.

Connect and listen to your mixes through two sets of speakers with iD14's four line outputs. Alternatively use the extra line outputs to send audio to an external headphone amp for distribution to your artists.

Equipped with both 1/4" and 3.5mm headphone jacks and a powerful headphone amp capable of driving headphones up to 600 ohms, the iD14 is ready to take on the most demanding recording sessions.
8-Channel Digital Input Expansion
The iD14's TOSLINK optical input can accept ADAT or S/PDIF digital signals, allowing up to eight additional inputs over a single digital cable. Expand your recording setup with an ADAT-equipped 8-channel mic pre such as the ASP880 (available separately).
Audio Loopback
Audio loopback enables you to capture playback from applications on your computer at the same time as your microphones, an ideal function for content creators, podcasters, and streamers.
ScrollControl
With a touch of a button, the iD14's volume encoder becomes a virtual scroll wheel that allows you to adjust DAW hosts, plug-in parameters, iD14's mixer app, and even scroll through your iTunes library. Wherever your mouse pointer hovers, the iD knob can scroll to control.

When not using the virtual scroll wheel, the iD button can be assigned to control the unit's monitoring features such as dim, polarity reverse, mono sum, talkback, and more.

Console-Style Monitor Controller
Take advantage of the onboard console-style monitor control functions including mono sum, polarity, dim, cut, talkback, and cue-mix monitoring; all the pro-level features you'd normally only find in far more expensive interfaces.
Software Mixer
Whether you're creating low-latency cue mixes or utilizing the flexible monitor control, the iD14 tightly integrates the hardware and software to make the recording process easy.
Built-In Talkback
New dedicated talkback technology enables you to utilize any audio source connected to your computer (e.g. your computer's built-in mic or a USB microphone) as your talkback mic, freeing up valuable mic pres while offering an effective talkback solution no matter where you are.
Rugged Durability
Thanks to all-metal construction, aluminum knobs, and high-grade component selection, the iD14 can stand up to countless late nights in the studio and days on the road.
Bundled Software
Compatible with all major audio software and plug-ins, the iD14 comes bundled with a collection of professional software, giving you everything you need to start recording.

Audient ID14 MKII Reviews

Great upgrade

I bought this to replace a FOCUSRITE 2i2 that was stuttering/breaking sync during video editing on multiple computers. This was recommended by an audio professional friend and I wasn’t expect a difference in functionality, just proper functionality but I was pleasantly surprised when I noticed how much better everything sounded. I was watching a movie while setting it up and switched devices then continued playback of the movie and there was an immediate increase in quality. Better bass response and separation plus more clarity in the higher frequencies. The controls and device feel top notch. My only issue I have is that when rebooting your computer it resets the volume to 0. This is honestly pretty smart, but has taken some time to get used to. I read if can be remedied by installing their software and setting a default state but I hate bloatware and chose to just adjust the volume on startup.

Works with Qualcomm ARM Processors

Not everything in the music industry works on Windows with the latest, greatest ARM processors. Audient is ahead of the industry and their drivers work. Not only that, it comes with a license for Cubase LE and Cubase is also leading the industry on Windows with ARM. This device has super low latency compared to the competition, so it's as real-time as you can get. On top of all that, their customer support is quick and friendly and they have tutorial videos such as Cubase 101 - Getting Started with Audient iD on YouTube. Great product, great company!
