Tilta TA-BSP5-15-B Overview

Add quick release capability and 15mm rod support to your Canon C70 camera with the black 15mm LWS Baseplate Type V from Tilta. The baseplate is compatible with Tilta full cages and allows you to use the camera with a shoulder support or tripod system, or to add 15mm LWS rod support for accessories like a follow focus, a matte box, or a lens motor. It is designed to put the Canon C70 camera at the proper lens height when mounted onto optional 15mm rods.

The dovetail bottom slides onto a separately available Tilta-standard dovetail plate or ARRI-style plate when used with the separately available Tilta to ARRI adapter. The bottom of the baseplate also incorporates several 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 threads for mounting a quick release plate. The baseplate is constructed with durable aluminum and stainless steel components.

Not compatible with Arca-Swiss plates or len feet

Tilta screwed up in producing a non Arca Swiss compatible base that cannot work with any of the standard plates or lens feet in use today. Pretty much a fatal design flaw and this item should not be offered to the public as it only makes for grief for customers.

This baseplate only works with the Tilta Dual Arca/Manfrotto Quick Release Plate TA-LSR-DQRP-B (search for B&H stock TIALSRDQRPB). And man, getting this information is basically impossible without first-hand experience. I have a drawer full of random plates of all sorts. Only one listed above worked. It does not fit standard Arca-type plates, just the one from Tilta. And the plate is a little too short for much room to balance, so you better have a long Arri plate to mount underneath. This is the only baseplate from Tilta that works with the Canon C400. The rest have the rods mounted too far away and that makes some accessories, like rod-mounted matte boxes and lens motors not work. So if you get this, also get the plate above. I wish the rods went through to the back but they are a blind hole so if your matte box is rod-mounted and the rods cannot extend past the front of the matte box, you will need the exact length rods for each lens since you cannot adjust them. If all you are doing with the rods is mounting motors then you should be fine with 6-12 inch rods. I wish Tilta had more documentation to explain their product line. All we get is one of their teenage employees demonstrating everything on YouTube, and they don't really seem to know what they're talking about.

The bottom of the Tilta Tiltaing 15mm LWS Baseplate Type V natively connects to Tilta Standard Dovetails. You can use ARRI Standard Dovetails via the Tilta Standard to Arri Standard Multi-Functional Baseplate. Tilta 19mm Studio Tilta to ARRI Standard Bridgeplate BH #TITTC06D • MFR #TT-C06-D

Yes, the Tiltaing 15mm LWS Baseplate Type V (Black) allows for 15mm rods to fully pass through the baseplate.

The Tiltaing 15mm LWS Baseplate Type V can only accept a Tilta full cage from the top and Tilta-standard dovetail plates or ARRI-style plates from the bottom.

though it may be possible, we would not recommend trying to use the Tiltaing 15mm LWS Baseplate Type V (Black) in that way. Maybe try using a different QR plate that is compatible with your tripod or your could try mounting your tripod plate to one of the 1/4'-20 receivers on the side of your cage.

Yes, the Tilta Tiltaing 15mm LWS Baseplate Type V (Black) has 1/4 20, and 3/8 connections on the bottom of the plate, that would allow you to attach standard tripod plates like the Manfrotto 501PL plate.
