Logickeyboard Astra 2 Overview

The Logickeyboard ASTRA 2 Windows Shortcut Keyboard features an elegant, black keyboard with low-profile scissor-switch keys for a light, yet responsive feel. With five selectable light levels of brightness, the ASTRA 2 is the perfect choice for any lighting condition. The keyboard features a USB 3.0 hub to enable you to connect a mouse, phone, contour shuttle, or a USB dongle.

The ASTRA 2 keyboard is developed with two USB cables: a gray one for the keyboard itself, and a black one for the USB hub to avoid problems with installations that require a KVM extender. In addition, the ASTRA 2 has a full-sized F-row and multimedia keys to provide full control and effectiveness.

To power the keyboard, you need to plug in the gray USB connector. If you need to activate the USB hub on the back of the keyboard, plug in the black USB connector. This dedicated shortcut keyboard also features all the regular letter, number, and symbol labeling that you will find on a conventional keyboard and can simply be used as a substitute for one. It is easy to plug in and requires no software installation.

This keyboard has been great for editing, especially with its design made specifically for Edius. I really enjoy the flat key design as opposed to raised keyboards, and feel it makes for faster and smoother workflow. The build is sturdy and has great hand-feel with an overall solid design.

Solid Keyboard But Adobe Photographer Version Is Cluttered

I Find All The Extra Words, Dots, And Symbols On The Keys Just Makes Everything A Bit Too Cluttered. The Keyboard Itself Is Great, But If You Already Know Most Of The Keyboard Shortcuts That You Use In LR And PS Then Maybe Consider The Regular Version Of The Keyboard And Having A Printout Of The Shortcuts Accessible Nearby. Another Thing I Did Not Consider Is The Finger Scanner Button Or Whatever It's Called On The Standard Mac Keyboard That Is Absent On This Astra. So I Have Both Keyboards Hooked Up Just So I Can Use That.

Is the astra 2 for avid MC also compatible with premiere? Can it be made compatible with premiere shortcut key mapping?
Asked by: Antony
Technically, the Logickeyboard ASTRA 2 Avid Media Composer Keyboard for macOS (Silver) could be used with Premiere and there are keyboard mapping options in Premiere which could approximately match the AVID commands, though it may not be quite exact. This may be useful if you need to switch between both programs on the same computer.
