Only used this a couple times so far, but seems good. This one was rated to play up to 4k. The $50 versions I think supported 8k, but for my needs, this I think works great.

What about compatible with older HDMI 1.4/1.3 standards to support -1920 x 1080 (1080P), 2560 x 1440, 3440 x 1440 ?

HDMI 2.0 is backwards compatible with older versions of HDMI and lower resolutions, so you can use the NewerTech USB Type-C Male to HDMI 2.0 Female Adapter with lower resolution displays that use older HDMI versions.
