THREE-BODY TECHNOLOGY Lost Soul is a virtual instrument that realistically emulates the sounds and articulation on a Chinese Xiao, a vertically played membrane-less wind instrument. Made out of a bamboo trunk, the Xiao offers a grave, smooth sound traditionally used for aulic and ritual music. Capable of energetic airflow attacks and dramatic vibrato effects, the instrument is also well suited for contemporary music.
Lost Soul is compatible with Mac and Windows. It runs as standalone software or operates in AU, VST2, and AAX formats.
Articulations for Realistic Expression
- Lost Soul comes with realistically recorded expressions that can be controlled via MIDI.
- Spectrum Fusion Legato technology utilizes recorded legato samples to enhance the realism of legato phrases—with regular legato, popping legato, and Wuxia-style legato.
- Recorded attack, mordent trill, flutter, and popping expressions.
- LFO-based vibrato engine for realistic and adjustable vibrato effects.
- Recorded gliss samples and gliss synthesis allow you to perform glisses at adjustable speeds.
- The instrument comes with a wide variety of articulations for eight different playing techniques, including traditional performance, film and TV soundtracks, and ancient Chinese-style songs.
Adjust the Tone of Your Instrument
- The Xiao was recorded using five different microphones to capture high, mid, and low frequencies separately, as well as with stereo sound.
- Mix and blend these microphones and add space using the built-in convolution reverb to shape your sound and your playing experience.
- Add variety to your sound with compressor, EQ, and delay effects.
Pattern Library
- Lost Soul comes with a library of preset patterns that allow you to quickly find new tones and spark your imagination. You can also create your own patterns by dragging MIDI clips inside the library.
