Works great except for one misunderstood thing.

The earphone output on this device is NOT the audio from your computer. It is the audio portion of the HDMI input. It would help it they labeled the earphone jack to indicate that, or put that information in the user manual.

Works great, but don't expect normal headphone output.

Just got off phone with support, and this device does NOT output normal system audio through the headphone jack. Instead it outputs the audio received in through the HDMI In port. So, this device does not show up under Windows/Control Panel/Sound/Playback. It only shows up under Windows/Control Panel/Sound/Recording. I'm using it with a Canon 70D HDMI output and a Comica BoomX-D set of microphones on OBS.

No it will not. this product requires a computer. it is not compatible with tablets or smartphones.

The Comprehensive 4K HDMI to USB 3.0 Capture Device (B&H# COCSD4KCD150) will record a signal into its HDMI port up to 4K/60p. That's a common output from many cable boxes, cameras, game systems, computers, and so on.
