Tilta Top Handle Overview

Finished in a Tactical gray color, the Tiltaing Adjustable Top Handle Plus is designed to attach to a rosette on the top side of a Tilta camera cage. The adjustable top handle can be easily mounted on your Tilta camera cage using its integrated 1/4"-20 thumbscrew, and it can be adjusted in a variety of configurations.

The durable aluminum handle consists of a top cheese-style handgrip with multiple 1/4"-20 threads and two shoe mounts to add a variety of accessories. Its mounting arm features a third shoe mount and a rotating rosette joint that allows you to rotate the handle 360° and lock it with a quick and easy push-button design. The connection between the handle and mounting arm can also be adjusted for balance and positioning by sliding the handle forward and backward, secured by a locking thumbscrew.

Probably a good handle, but frustrating…

This particular quick release handle does not work with the Tilta cage for the RED Komodo 6K. It only latches in and bolts down with a 1/4 20” thread when it is put in backwards, obscuring the camera screen and carries awkward when held. However, I’m sure it works with other Tilta brands.

I wanted a top handle that used two bolts for more peace of mind, and this one is inexpensive and has been perfect.

Would this work well as a right side handle mount as well? (On fx3/30 tilta cage)

Because the Tilta Quick Release Top Handle (Black) has a 1/4"-20 that can protrude from the bottom of cold shoe mount, you could mount it as a side handle using a the camera's or a cage's 1/4"-20 receiver, but it may not be the most secure since it won't have the added support of a cold shoe, anti-twist pin, or a second screw, so if you do use it as a side handle be careful to pay attention to if it starts to come lose or twist.

The Tilta Quick Release Top Handle (Black) could be used with the Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera 6K G2 with either a compatible cage with cold shoe mount or a cold shoe adapter such as the SmallRig 1241 Cold Shoe, BH #SM1241.
