Kirk SGH-4 Reviews

Solid but comfort issue

My use for this is to carry the camera with telephoto lenses that have built-in collars. My goal was a handle that would be more secure and comfortable than holding the collar plate or attached Arca-style plate. This grip is as well built as other Kirk plates and brackets that I've used. The shape of the grip is unfortunately not comfortable for long periods, such as carrying gear on a hike. The underside of the grip portion is too flat and the edges cut into my fingers and hand. The underside should have a more convex shape to fit the curve of the fingers and hand. I could probably wrap it with a bit of foam and gaff tape, but would prefer not to have to add to it. I recommend that Kirk adjust the shape of this for future runs of the product, and it would be perfect.

Useful for carrying long lens

This grip is so useful. I used it to carry my canon EF600 and 800 using low profile lens plates. The clamp is tight and secure and I am not afraid it will get loosen. Probably, the only improvement I suggest would be a bigger grip for photographers with bigger hands.

Does this grip have safety stops in case the knob gets loose?
Asked by: Bill
The Kirk Super Grip Handle (SGH-4) does not include built-in safety stops; however, it features a captive knob to prevent the knob itself from falling off.
