Vienna Symphonic Library Studio Solo Strings Virtual Instrument (Download)

Vienna Symphonic Vienna Studio Solo Strings is a virtual instrument with a library that accurately captures the sound and expressiveness of two solo violins, a solo viola, two solo cellos, and a solo double bass playing at Synchron Stage Vienna. The library is based on the Collections VI Solo Strings I, Solo Violin 2, and Solo Cello 2, which were updated, reedited, and mapped to improve playability with the included Synchron Player and deliver realistic string performances right out of the box, for film and game scoring, trailer music, or sound design.

The Synchron Player's time-stretch feature allows you to change the speed of vibratos, tremolos, trills, portamentos, and glissandos in real time using a MIDI controller. You can even speed up or slow down scale runs while they're playing back or automatically sync them to the host tempo.

Utilizing the Synchron Player's Release Sample technology, along with the wide variety of optimized release sounds greatly increases the articulations range of use. Short notes ring out authentically depending on the body resonance and the note's volume. Long- and medium-length notes (détaché, portato, crescendos, and diminuendos) can be played shorter than their recorded length, while still being heard with authentic release sounds.

Repetition performances including articulations ranging from legato and portato variations to staccato and spiccato are also enhanced by the Release Sample technology and by proprietary repetition and Interval Logic technology. These Multi Shorts patches automatically provide you with notes that sound natural in medium and fast passages, depending on the note you played before (the same note or an interval) and on how long a note is played.

The Dynamic Layer patch offers up to nine velocity layers of each articulated note, so you can play passages with extremely nuanced dynamics—accessing the individual velocity layers of each articulation with the mod wheel or key velocity.

Meticulously balanced volume levels of the entire sample database allow for seamless note transitions when moving from one playing technique to the next. Velocity crossfading is optimized for extrasmooth volume changes.

Many articulations are available as looped notes such as sustains (with and without vibrato), trills, tremolos, and more. Unlooped legatos are also available to access the natural musicality of each beautifully articulated target note as performed by the musician.

Making use of the Synchron Player's straightforward preset and patch structure, the wide variety of articulations and playing techniques is clearly laid out and quickly accessible, making the instruments a breeze to play on the keyboard.

Vienna Symphonic Library Studio Chamber Strings Virtual Instrument for Composers (Download)

If you're looking for some exciting, realistic string sections for composing pieces in software, Studio Chamber Strings from Vienna Symphonic Library might just be for you. This collection of virtual instruments features six first violins, six second violins, four violas, three cellos, and two double basses. Taken together, they make a credible, authentic string section that can help flesh out your work, or add nuance to your existing orchestral VIs.

Much of the sample content has its roots in the Chamber Strings I Collection, though those samples have been re-edited and remastered to give you a modern sound that's easy to play. New velocity layers have been added in the legato articulations; indeed, you'll notice a large volume of articulations and expressions included in this string section.

This software comes with the Vienna Synchron Player to play all these string samples. More than 90,000 samples are employed in this virtual instrument for a library that totals 27.8GB. This software is compatible with Mac and Windows platforms, and operates in AU, VST, and AAX platforms.

Vienna Symphonic Library Studio Chamber Strings Sordino Virtual Instrument (Download)

Vienna Symphonic Vienna Studio Chamber Strings Sordino is a virtual instrument with a library that accurately captures the sound and expressiveness of muted small strings ensembles. The library is based on the VI Chamber Strings II library, which was updated, reedited, and mapped to improve playability with the included Synchron Player and deliver realistic chamber string performances right out of the box, for film and game scoring, trailer music, or sound design.

The ensembles of six first violins, six second violins, four violas, three cellos, and two double basses were recorded in the tightly controlled ambience of Vienna's purpose-built Silent Stage and virtually placed on the large Stage A of Synchron Stage Vienna using the Synchron Player's integrated convolution reverb technology.

The library comes with an enhanced set of deep sampled con sordino articulations taken from the original VI Chamber Strings II, with a clearly laid out and color-coded structure in the Synchron Player for an intuitive overview and quick access to the vast choices of playing techniques. The meticulously balanced volume levels of the entire sample database guarantee seamless note transitions when moving from one playing technique to the next. Velocity crossfading has been further optimized for extrasmooth volume changes.

Utilizing the Synchron Player's Release Sample technology along with the wide variety of optimized release sounds greatly increases the flexibility and usability of many articulations. Notes like détachés, fortepianos, crescendos, and diminuendos can be played at various lengths, while always triggering the correct release sounds to sound musical and natural.

Vienna Symphonic Library Studio Appassionata Strings Virtual Instrument (Download)

The Vienna Symphonic Library Studio Appassionata Strings brings the lush and broad sound of the acclaimed Appassionata Strings to Stage A of Synchron Stage, Vienna. The library was created by completely remastering and reediting the sample database, which is optimized for the Vienna Synchron Player and provides a modern Appassionata string sound that excels in terms of aesthetics, playability, and realism.

Studio Appassionata Strings features 76 instruments including 20 first violins, 20 second violins, 14 violas, 12 cellos, and 10 double basses. The instruments not only cover lavish ensembles that lend themselves to soaring emotive themes, but also to action-packed scores, producing that larger-than-life cinematic sound to which Synchron Stage Vienna's film-scoring clients are returning repeatedly.

The Vienna Synchron Player is one of the most powerful sample playback engines on the market, which provides unprecedented streaming performances while maintaining ease of use. In addition to the previously existing articulations of Appassionata Strings, Vienna added non-vibrato sustains, legatos, and portamentos for more versatile and flexible expressive options, as well as improvements to the already great-sounding legato transitions. What's more, new sustains with very soft attacks allow for especially gentle beginnings of notes. The volume levels of all articulations were completely overhauled and provide perfectly balanced levels not only among the ensembles themselves but also in interaction with Synchron Strings I and Studio Chamber Strings

Also integrated into the Synchron Player, Vienna incorporated a specifically designed convolution reverb derived from Vienna MIR Pro, which provides the remarkable ambiance of the main hall of the Synchron Stage Vienna with strategically engineered reverberation and placement presets, which combine an impulse response for each group within the ensemble, resulting in a production-ready sound, out of the box.

Enhanced, Optimized, and Reedited from the Ground Up
Starting with the raw, unprocessed original Silent Stage recordings for the VI Collections Woodwinds I and II, the Vienna Symphonic team worked to increase flexibility and ease of use for a quick and creative workflow. The volume levels of all articulations have been overhauled to provide matching levels, not only within the articulations of each instrument but also in interaction with the other included woodwind instruments and with all other instruments of the Synchron Series. This allows for smooth articulation changes without the need for volume corrections, and smooth crossfading between vibrato and nonvibrato articulations.
Vienna Synchron Player
Studio Woodwinds comes with a free Vienna Synchron Player that incorporates a powerful sample playback engine that features streaming performance with an updated level of ease-of-use. Play short notes, long notes with various attacks, legatos, scalable vibrato intensities, and note repetitions intuitively just by moving one or two preconfigured controls and with minimal need to switch articulations manually. With the Synchron Player’s innovative algorithms, the liveliness of these instruments unfolds magically and effortlessly.
World-Class Acoustics
For Studio Woodwinds, a specifically designed convolution reverb derived from Vienna MIR Pro is built into the Synchron Player. It features an outstanding and unique ambience of the 540 m² (5813 ft²) main hall of Synchron Stage Vienna. The reverberation and placement presets combine customized impulse responses with crafted reverb settings for each instrument. By adding the ambience of Synchron Stage Vienna’s Stage A to the dry samples in real time, Studio Woodwinds blends with every other product in our Synchron Series, resulting in a production-ready sound out of the box.

Vienna Symphonic Library SYNCHRON-ized Plucked Instruments Virtual Instrument (Download)

Vienna Symphonic Vienna SYNCHRON-ized Plucked Instruments is a virtual instrument with a library that accurately captures the sound and expressiveness of an upright bass, a concert guitar, and an electric guitar. The library is based on the VI Single Instruments Upright Bass, Concert Guitar and Overdrive, which was updated, reedited, and mapped to improve playability with the included Synchron Player and deliver authentic performances for film and game scoring, trailer music, or sound design.

The upright bass features recordings of a plucked bass with a variety of jazz playing techniques. The articulations are played pizzicato and include staccatos, portatos, and sustains with various vibrato strengths, legatos, slow and fast glissandos, repetitions, ghost notes, as well as single, double, and triple upbeats at various tempos. The Upright Bass sample set is rounded off by snaps, noises, and various other effects.

The concert guitar is a unique, hand-made instrument with a balanced, homogeneous sound, ideal for both solo lines and chord accompaniment. The single notes include various short notes (Bartok, Étouffé, and hammer-ons), long notes (flautando, ponticello, Bartok, Étouffé, natural and artificial harmonics), legatos, glissandos, repetitions, tremolos, and trills. There are also bends and effects such as harp, golpe, tambora, scratches, as well as chord mutes. The broad range of chords in all keys and various playing positions are offered in the categories of regular, rasgueado, rasgueado rolls and arpeggios, in ringing, secco, and stopped variants.

The overdrive electric guitar features distorted tube sound recordings of a legendary Steve Vai signature seven-string guitar played through a Brunetti XL II R-EVO amp head and a Marshall 1960TV 4x12" cabinet. Along with various short and sustained notes (with or without vibrato, or whammy bar), you get legatos, slides, hammer-ons, pull-offs, repetitions, tremolos, trills, grace notes, natural and artificial harmonics, as well as a large variety of scale runs. There are also various flavors of chords, especially the mighty power chords for those about to rock. Effects include feedbacks, scratches, and e-bowed notes. All notes start at B0 on the lower end, extending the range of a standard guitar down a 4th.

Making use of the Synchron Player's straightforward preset and patch structure, the wide variety of articulations is clearly laid out and easily accessible, making the instruments and each of their deep sonic possibilities a breeze to navigate and play on the keyboard.

Software requires a ViennaKey USB protection device or other USB eLicenser, if one is not already on the system (available separately).
