Kodak Luma 150 Reviews

Painless art transfers

By Paula

Art transfers to small paper sizes are now painless with this thing. It opens up possibilities for doing the physical-media component of complex compositions in multiple passes: smooth paper for pen and ink, toothy paper for watercolor, etc. And you can go straight to watercolor, using the projected image as an invisible underdrawing. (Pity those poor Renaissance artists with their pouncing powder and squares. They would have killed for—well, for a full-size projector, but you get the point.) A few feet away will give you roughly a 14x11” size, with the source in landscape orientation. For a smaller size, change the source to portrait orientation, or move the projector closer. Yes, this projector is a bit dim, but all you need are the contours. I’m finding line drawings easy to read even in moderate daylight. It’s odd that the manufacturers are still making USB-A ports, but that’s fine. There are plenty of USB-A thumb drives around (and adapters), and that’s what I use for the transfers. For some reason, when you select Photo, the interface presents you with two choices for that USB-A. The first won’t work; use the second. And even if you have only one source, it’s a slideshow; tap Pause or it will blink. I’d stay away from the wireless connection. There is no way to change the password, so unless you’re roughing it in Montana, you’ll be joining your device to what is effectively a public hotspot. But, no, I don’t think that should knock its rating down: adding a password set would raise the price, and users would not like the extra hurdle. Just use a thumb drive.

Photo Didn't Make It - Adding It Now. Purchased The Kodak Luma 150 Projector And Magnus LM-700 Tripod To Set Up As Drawing Projector. It's Working Out Great. The Projector Is Compact, Light Weight, And Will Focus Up Close. The Image Is Bright And Clear So Drawing From Photos Has Been Easy. The Lateral Feature Of The Tripod Is Perfect For Projecting Downward. The Tripod Is Quite Stable. Overall Very Happy With This Combination.
