Calibrite ColorChecker Classic Reviews

Ok, Just OK but the only game in town

Color accuracy on the standard colorchecker since Calibrite took over has been been OK (compared to the $400 SG, which is constantly 8 dE off of spec). I hand measure every chart I purchase now with an i1Pro, that's how much faith I have in Calibrite. Quality and packaging however seems pretty sad for a $100 chart, have received several which came with several patches scuffed out of the box, plastic backing basically potato chips as soon as the temperature changes 10 degrees. For $99 you should expect a stuffer or aluminum backing, and something better to keep it in than a plastic bag (which is not even the right size for the chart) and a thin card-stock envelope. The passport is a much better design, just too small for some shots.

Not really quality

For what it costs, please include a protective case or make it of a more rigid material. A week into owning this product, it became bent. I maybe had a grocery bag on top of it in my car, nothing heavy. I think I can get it to bend back, but it was in the cardboard that it came with. I feel that I can't blame myself too much. They even recommend replacing it ever so often because the colors are bound to get dirty or smudged. Ok we believe you it's so expensive to have accurate color. But every time I purchase a lens, camera, etc. There is a cheap little bag to store it in. I believe x-rite can do the same for what they charge.

IS it possible to get the RGB or CMYK numbers of each patch?
Asked by: Craig
I agree with Craig, that the response by hectorm does not answer the question, a question that is of great importance to me. Does the card give RGB values for each of the "mix of everyday colors" etc? Not just a patch for RGB red for example.
