Photogenic PL1250DR Reviews

One rocking light!

This light is an awesome light! It is really worth the price. Not only does the digital readout tell you the wattseconds you are firing at but it also has 1/10 or 1/2 power variability! It is built like a rock to! The bar helps protect the controls. I have done 5 hour shoots with it and it is still kicking, it does not change color temp much, nor does it overheat very easily! I would reccomend it to any photographer serious about studio work! 500 ws is nice to for my 70 inch octabox.

Great Light

I own 5 of these that I use in the studio and also take on the road with me for weddings and commercial assignments. They have not been gently treated however, keep providing consistent results. The newest one I own is 5 years old, the oldest is approximately 10 years old. In that time I have replaced one modeling lamp and one flash tube due to burn out and one modeling lamp and flash tube due to a client knocking down a light stand. One monolight I received new through B&H was DOA (exploded when plugged in the first time). B&H immediately replaced and have had no other problems. The only knocks on these lights is that the modifiers are not standard - meaning that they are not very interchangable with other brands. Additionally, being a digital interface, you can't use these with a DC power supply through an inverter (doesn't work).
