Does precisely what you want it to do
Check the specs and all that, but it's built and works as well as it looks. I bought two, one for a studio set up, one for outdoor work. For the studio set up I needed fine vertical adjustment for shooting static objects, where my prior twist and lock center column adjuster was too clumsy. I was just going to buy a whole new tripod with a. high quality cranked center column, but to my surprise discovered that they barely make these anymore beyond very cheap tripods or something more eccentric for my needs. This column solved that problem and pairs with any normal tripod. For the field this also works as expected. I recently removed it however from my Robus tripod to reduce some wind vibration I was getting. This column locks very very securely with the threaded screw and has really good tolerances and all that, but it still acts as a permanently extended lever once mounted to your tripod. This is a physics thing, not a Leofoto thing. Can't speak to longevity but so far an excellent product. Price-wise? Given the limited options out there and it's seemingly good build quality, I'd say it's a fair value.
Perfect for those small height adjustments.
I do a lot of insect photography and the little bugger don't always land on the same flower ever time!!! It is really time consuming to move the legs up or down and the shot is lost. Just loose the center know and move it either by hand or the crank to the new height and then tighten the knob. It probably took me longer to type that sentence than it takes to do it!
