It's nearly circular in shape and relatively shallow, so the pattern it puts out is about as broad and omnidirectional as you can possibly get... if that's what you want, this will work perfectly. It has 8 struts so it's very sturdy, and not hard to assemble... however it's a basic studio unit, not a quick release type, which is also intended to be easily portable.
