I now have 3 of these, and don't ever use my larger ones any more. The square shape is very convenient and it's a little deeper than others I've tried. The grid fits well, and although it does reduce light quite a bit, it creates a much tighter pattern that's handy if you're trying to control the placement a bit.

Do the rods slip into the corners of the softbox? They don't seem deep enough to fit in.
I found the corners but they seemed to be stuck closed. I used a chopstick to "unstick" the hole. Thanks for the reply.

Its to lock the orientation of the box. The ribbed nut that threads onto it from the other side, clamping the box's orientation when tight.

Answer: no, too large in diameter.
Strobes may be the expected use, but it also works fine with a constant light that have a bowens mount. I tried to ask the question before I got it, but I chose a time when you were out of the office and I decided it wasn't important. A curiosity thing. :)
