So which is it? Can the Startech 2x2 HDMI switch have the auto switch function disabled?

The StarTech 2x1 2-Port 4K HDMI Switch (BH # STVS221HD20 • MFR # VS221HD20) is designed to support manual switching alongside its automatic and priority switching modes. While the device allows you to manually select your input using the "Select" button on the front panel or the included IR remote, it does not typically feature a setting to permanently disable the auto-switching functionality. Manual Control: You can always override the current selection by pressing the "Select" button on the front of the unit or using the remote control. Auto-Switching Behavior: The device is built to automatically detect and switch to an active HDMI source as soon as it is turned on or connected. Some newer or different StarTech models (such as their 8K USB-powered switches) include specific button-press sequences to toggle auto-switching on or off, but this functionality is not standard for the VS221HD20 model.
