Does this actually record 4K30 signal? The specs ...
Does this actually record 4K30 signal? The specs here say "Capture up to UHD 4K30 to Your Computer" and ..." lets you capture up to UHD 4K signals with embedded audio via an HDMI input" But after sifting through the specs on the manufacturer website found this little nugget. "Record in up to 38402160 resolution (4k) at
30Hz with hardware up-scaling/down-scaling.
The dongle will accept 4K/30Hz signals from a
gaming console and will automatically downscale the output video to 1080p/30 HD HDMI
video signals if needed." Huh? So, is this 4K or 1080 with upscaling. So, it accepts 4K, then converts it to 1080P, then UPSCALES back to 4K for recording? This seems like a terrible way to record 4K. Unless I'm not understanding something? Please clear this up.
The KanexPro 4K HDMI to USB 2.0 Capture Box with HDMI Loop Output can accept HDMI sources up to 3840 x 2160 30p and output up to 3840 x 2160 30p on the HDMI output and downscales to 1920 x 1080 30p for the webcam signal over USB 2.
