This L mount beauty is SHARP! Great color saturation too! I love it on my Leica SL2!

Great for sports and marching band photos.

First off, this is a massive lens. While you can definitely handhold it on the side of the field, you'll definitely want a monopod if you want to get clear longer shots. I use this from the bleachers at football games, and 600mm is more than enough to get to mid-field and focus on a single player. Images look great. I was expecting a little light loss around the edges, but I haven't seen any so far. I also haven't noticed any chromatic aberration, but I'm still early on shooting with this. The focus range switch is a must-have when you're shooting at distance in Continuous AF mode, otherwise the focus can sometimes go through it's entire range causing you to miss an action shot. The two IS modes are really handy. Make sure you switch them for action vs. still shots. I have this on a Sony A7iii. Sigma lenses zoom with the same rotation as Canon lenses but in the opposite direction of Sony lenses. So you'll have to train your brain to rotate the zoom in the opposite direction when you're using this lens on your Sony.

Love this lens but it is way out of my league!

I am not used to such a big lens. So my first few weeks with this lens are going to be very awkward. I look forward to the challenge. It's 2.5 times bigger (and better) than my previous long lens (which was a Tamron 18-400) but the optics are much better and the auto-focusing works beautifully. I can't give it 5 stars yet because I haven't grown into it. It has a much more limited use than my previous lens simply because it begins at 150mm. I will probably need to buy a special backpack or bag for it and the camera as well as a monopod but at least it manually focuses correctly (what I mean by that is the Tamron manually focused in the opposite direction...turn ring to the left to focus on foreground instead of to the right like my 8 other lenses and every lens I've ever used). The autofocus isn't perfect but it's really fast and fairly accurate. It will be a great lens for me to grow into and I look forward to everything I will learn from using it. The Tamron forced me into some bad habits and now I will gladly unlearn all of that and adapt. It's a solid lens and it's built very well and the functions are intuitive. I'm so grateful they made one for the Sony E-mount. The previous models were for Canon and Nikon only and required an adapter. I'm grateful this lens is shorter and lighter than the previous models but it's a beast and I hope I can tame it.

Great lens, but requires work.

So first, this lens is amazing and I have gotten some amazing shots with her. The stabilization works well and the autofocus works well. But a heads up, she's a tank, and I'm a pretty big guy and still feel it after just a bit. Also, fast shutter speeds, and higher ISO are a must with this lens. Focal length switch needs to be used for longer shots. Lastly, for longer shots be aware of temperature. I live in Florida and shot the lens on a hot day (around 90) and fought with heat distortion. All and all, an amazing lens, but you have to be aware of conditions to use well.

Hey everyone! I hope everyone has been having a decent year so far out there! A little about myself, I love to hike and I'm always looking far and wide so why not get this beasty telephoto lens to help me see even further?! Anyways this lens is fantastic. Of course my heaviest lens in the bag! When the lens first arrived I immediately took a short drive to the mountains nearby and was blessed by this majestic creature! Amazed at the crispness and AF of this lens.

I am super pleased with this lens. The contrast is excellent, the chromatic abberation is non-existent in all but the most extreme situations, and the bokeh has the nice creamy Sigma touch to it. Very happy with this lens!

Nice tele lens

Finally Sigma makes a tele lens to cover the long range that Leica lens has missed. I mount this lens on Leica SL. It's fully auto focus and lens info is accurate recorded to the images. This lens is pretty solid built and heavy, it's extended zoom while using it. All functional buttons/switches are easy to handle. The manual focus ring is very smooth and easy to get the subject focused while using the manual focus mode on the lens. Noticed that the auto focus button on the lens doesn't work on Leica SL. I use this lens for birding, surfing, and landscaping shoots. The focusing speed is not as fast as the Leica APO Vario Elmarit SL 90-280mm lens, with that said, shooting fast moving birds may be a bit challenging. Handheld shooting is acceptable but recommended to use tripods or monopods. The lens foot is Arca-Swiss compatible and I like it a lot. Everything comes in the box are very useful and I don't need to buy extra accessory except the UV protection filter. Overall I like this lens and will shoot more different subjects and get used to it. There's no comparison with the Leica SL lens family but one thing for sure is buying this lens won't break your bank. I am sharing few samples here just in case.

Up to now Sony does not allow 3rd party TC's, no third-party E-mount lens can work with teleconverters as that's one thing Sony won't license/permit to third party manufacturers so far. Will this change with this lens ?

Sigma 150-600 or sony 200-600 for sony a7iii and why? Also my primary lens is a 24-70 so is it necessary to fill the gap?
Asked by: Srinesh
The Sigma 150-600mm and the Sony 200-600mm lenses are both excellent long telephoto zooms; the Sony lens has hundreds of excellent reviews, while the Sigma is too new to have reviews yet. It's a matter of personal taste, but either way, you can't go wrong. There is no need to have any lens you don't need to "fill in" a gap in coverage--almost no one needs to have every focal length represented in their kit.

I have a Nikon Z7ii This is mirrorless. Will this be coming out in a Z Mount? Or is there an adapter that can be used? If so which and are there any drawbacks.
Asked by: Steven
Unfortunately, Sigma has not announced any plans to release a Nikon Z mount version of this lens just yet. The only possibility is to use the Nikon FTZ Mount Adapter, BH # NIFTZ along with the Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary Lens for Nikon F, BH # SI1506005CN https://bhpho.to/2ykVPtq https://bhpho.to/2JEF3bQ
