Dynalite SH2000 overview

  • 1Description

The Dynalite SH2000 Studio Flash Head gives photographers the control they require in the studio and the ability of bringing their same lights on location, because every component was designed to minimal size and weight specifications.

The SH2000 head is a fan cooled 2000 watt/second studio flash head with a frosted glass dome for even light dispersion and more accurate previewing from the 250 Watt quartz modeling lamp. The SH2000 head is designed for use with a variety of studio type reflectors for total control of lighting effects (See "Accessories"). A power supply for this flash head is required.

Compact Design
The SH2000 is one of the most portable lamp heads available
Easy to Control
Integral tilt mechanism for continuous tilting for stand or suspension mounting.
Easily Replaceable Flashtube
  • 2000w/s UV coated flashtube 4003 with a frosted glass dome protector
  • A clear glass domed flashtube is also available
  • No tools are required to replace this "plug & play" assembly.
  • Flash tube is hand mounted and tested for flash consistency, power output and color temperature accuracy.
  • Frosted Dome
  • Slightly softens light output
  • Modeling light and flash light position match closely, for a very accurate preview of what will actually happen with your light when the flash goes off
  • Removable Reflector
The SH2000 head can be outfitted with parabolic reflectors, barndoors, and grid spot holders for greater light control
    Long-Reaching Cable
  • An 18' detachable cable is included
  • Head extension cables are available for heads used at longer distances from the power pack
  • Fan Cooled
Fan cooling of the lamp head allows for increased protection under the most demanding of circumstances.

    Dynalite SH2000 reviews

    SH2000 Studio 2000 Watt/Second Flash Head is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great flash head. Highly Recommend. For what it is, this thing never skips a beat. Great quality of light that is consistent and quick. I use this inside a 5 foot octabox and also in 3x4 softboxes and it fills up quite nicely. Bought it to put in these light modifiers out of paranoia that my MH2050 heads weren't lighting the boxes evenly enough (they were). Can't complain though. Only thing I would change is a quicker system of attaching light modifiers to dynalite heads, like the Profoto stuff which is super quick. However, the tiny size and portability of these are astounding.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dynalite's Most Versatile Flash Head This flash head will adapt to many more reflectors and softboxes than will the 2050, although the 2050's are lighter and more compact. The standard reflector accepts grids w/o an xtra cost adapter. Hopefully, Dynalite will do away with the pigtail cable and install a cable plug like the 2050 head. Had to return one recently for an under-performing cooling fan, .... Tough equipment, built to last and very desirable as used someday.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great light This is a wonderful lighting tool. I love Dynalite for its small footprint, portability and quality. This light works flawlessly! The SH200 is a wonderful complement to the 2040 (and newer 2050) Dynalite heads. The 2040/50 have have recessed flashtubes, while the SH2000 (similar to the old 4040) light is protruded and perfect for softboxes and large umbrellas like the PLM from Paul C Buff and the Westcott 7' Parabolic Umbrella.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Very happy with this light. I've not needed the 2000 watt full power yet, but the durability and quality of the frosted dome are great. I've been using the roadmax style lights up until now, and having this as a comparison is very good. Fan is quiet too! One of the reasons I switched to Dynalite was the noise of the Speedotron stuff I had before, so having a fan on a light that is super quiet is good.
