User friendly interface and tons of precision on the knob. Good battery life and very robust in the cold. If the reliability of communication to the unit is necessary go with this system. Battery life is great too. Expensive but worth it like anything else Arri.

The ARRI Hi-5 Hand Unit Basic Set (B&H# ARHI5UBSCS) has both serial and LBUS ports on it. The ARRI CUBE CUB-1 (B&H# ARK20008630) can convert many serial protocols (e.g. RS-232, RS-485, and RS-422) to LBUS, and it will also do that in reverse. While we do not know how you are thinking to use this, please keep in mind that the serial port of the ARRI CUBE CUB-1 takes a seven-pin connector whereas that of the ARRI Hi-5 Hand Unit takes a four-pin connector. As for signal conversion, however, the functionality is as stated.

For the new Zeiss XD integration per firmware 1.90, how do the lenses get connected to the Hi-5 unit?

The new Firmware 1.90 enables all ZEISS Supreme, Supreme Radiance, and CP.3 XD lenses to automatically transfer information about lens scales and depth of field to ARRI Hi-5 and WCU-4 hand units when using ARRI cameras and the ARRI LCS. This eliminates the need for camera assistants to manually calibrate their lenses, saving valuable time and effort on set when using the ARRI Hi-5 Hand Unit.

Does this unit works with Red RF module? Specifically with cPRO motor?

As of 8/16/21, ARRI is considering a red radio option. The antenna ring of RF-2400 is orange.

What do I need to make this compatible with ...
What do I need to make this compatible with non-Arri cams? Venice, Red DSMC2 cams, etc. would a Cforce mini RF allow me to program lenses on non Arri cams like it will with a WCU-4?

Yes, you will need a motor controller either Cforce Mini RF, AMC1 or UMC 4. Best option is the Cforce mini RF in my opinion
