what's needed to record the feed from my PC? do i need a software or device like a capture card? or can i just take an HDMI cable, plug it into my GPU and into the Hyperdeck.
Asked by: dequone
If you want to record your computer feed all you need to do is plus the HDMI out from your GPU to the HDMI IN on the hyperdeck. That will record the computer feed to the SSDs that are in the hyperdeck. Now if you are trying to record from the hyerdeck to your computer there is a little more to that. You can plus in whatever you are recording to the HDMI IN or SDI IN on the hyperdeck. Then plug the HDMI OUT to a USB Capture to your computer. The the video feed is basically a loop out from the hyperdeck. Then you are recoding with both the SSDs and on your computer.

Assume that the hyperdeck sits between a bmpcc and an ATEM mini extreme. Can the hyperdeck receive/record 4k feed over SDI from the camera and output 1080 over HDMI to the ATEM? And, if that is the case, will the ATEM still have access to camera controls? Thank you!
Asked by: William
The Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera does not output SDI that is reaquired for camera controls to exist.

Hi, Is there a way to use media express to record locally on a computer and also record on the hyper deck at the same time? Like If I start record on media express, also starts on hyper deck or I if stop on media express then automatically stops on hyper deck as well. Thanks.
Asked by: Brian
We hope this helps with your question about the Hyperdeck Studio 4k from Black Magic Design. a) Blackmagic Media Express supports control of an external Player over RS422 connection, which might be useful for capturing in Batch capture mode or in print to tape mode. b) Blackmagic Media Express can work with Hyperdeck Studio Pro other thunderbolt connection when it set as a capturing device in Media Express. Only the legacy models with Thunderbolt 2 ports support that mode. However there is no way to start capture on a hyper deck device and capture in the second capturing devices.

Will the HyperDecks have any issues recording and timecode syncing variable refresh rate (VRR) sources such as PCs or consoles?
Asked by: Josiah
It is best for inputs to the Blackmagic Design HyperDeck Studio 4K Pro to be set to a fixed frame rate for best compatibility. Input Re-Sync should also be turned on for inputs that cannot be synced using a reference lock.

Can this unit record internally and to a USB external disk simultaneously? I understand you must choose 1 media type internally, but once that is done, can the external drive record at the same time. Thank you.
Asked by: Jeff
No, the Blackmagic Design HyperDeck Studio 4K Pro will only allow to record tp one device or another but we highly suggest recording to sdd drives as they are more reliable and offer faster writing speeds. Goodnight! if I connect this HYPERDECK to an Atem 4 ME, can I record the cameras in ISO mode?
Asked by: Ana Claudia
The Blackmagic Design HyperDeck Studio 4K Pro will only support recording one camera as a time via the AUX outputs of the Atem 4 M/E. If you add more Hyperdecks you can record more connected cameras via the Atem 4 M/Es AUX outputs.
