Finally capture all your bass drum's glorious low end with the KickTone Dynamic Multipurpose Bass Microphone. Engineered to accurately reproduce the resonant chamber of a bass drum, this breakthrough design features a specially manufactured 5.25" hemp diaphragm that is both stiff and lightweight, providing excellent damping characteristics. The coaxial design includes a high-frequency transducer to pick up the transients that give the drum its snap. Housed in a tough ABS chassis that measures 6.5" in diameter and 3.75" in depth, the mic can handle SPLs up to 175 dB, features a cardioid pickup pattern, and delivers a 20 Hz to 10 kHz frequency response.
Use with KickPort or Mic Stand
- The KickTone mic can be mounted in two ways. You can mount it on a standard microphone stand, but much better, you can use a KickPort (available separately) to attach the mic directly to a bass drum's resonant head. The mic includes a proprietary slide bracket that quickly connects it to any KickPort.
- The KickPort is a reusable ring that fits a 4.5 to 5.25" bass drum hole and functions as an acoustic drum enhancer designed to maximize the tonal qualities of a bass drum. Spectrum analysis of a bass drum strike shows that it enhances lower frequencies for a deeper, fatter, warmer, and cleaner sound.
- The front of the KickTone mic has a slide bracket that allows you to simply slide the microphone from top to bottom over a KickPort—this will yield the best sonic results.
- Using the KickTone with the KickPort keeps it securely locked in the drum's sweet spot, where it won't block the view of your drum head artwork or get kicked out of position by an energetic singer.
- For situations that don't allow for the use of a KickPort, the bottom of the microphone has a standard 5/8"-27 thread mic stand attachment. This mount swivels and locks down for exact positioning in front of a kick drum.
- A Neutrik XLR output is next to the microphone stand mount.
