Not so simple Plug and Play barcode scanner

This barcode scanner works okay for its intended purpose, but it requires some configuration before you can scan normally. When I installed it and tried my first scan it did not display the barcode fully in Notepad. It would only display the barcode number partially. I scanned it again and it would eventually show the whole number from the first scan but show partial on the second. I found the User Manual from Adesso's website and scanned the Default Settings barcode. This did not fix it. I had to try different settings before I could get a full barcode number scan. After defaulting it. I had to scan the default setting (3) for the Key Delay Single Reading Mode and the Upload speed setting to fast before I can get a normal scan. Also, you will need to find the scanning distance sweet spot to get a good beep. I plan to keep this scanner due to a deadline for a project. No time to find a replacement. I will look at other manufacturers for one should it prove frustrating for end users.
